Surprise visit from a Raccoon on Thanksgiving Day

We were having a nice Thanksgiving dinner a couple of years ago when the dog went crazy barking in the back yard. The commotion was so great all of us had to go see what was out there.

To our surprise there was a baby raccoon in my magnolia tree. He was the cutest little thing. But he was not a happy camper. He was hissing, spiting, and ready to tear anything apart that came within range of him. In fact he was scared to death.

The dog was running around the tree barking and trying to jump and grab the poor little thing. We leased the dog and tied him up. The baby raccoon calmed down some once the dog was removed. He seamed tired and I am sure he was after that flight for life.

After allowing him to rest for about 30 minuets I took a very long pole and encouraged him to go down out of the tree. He ran away into the woods.

We really enjoyed our visit that day and it made for a special memory for the kids.
