 The Amazing Race 12 Season Review

This is not what I was expecting, not at all. To see Uchenna and Joyce get eliminated because of missing a connection, wow. If it had been Rob and Amber someone would have helped them. But their attitude about the whole thing was really great.

This season in my opinion is one for the ages. There has been more crazy things happening this year than in all the other years combined. Before this we had seen the Gutsy Grannys miss a flight and get eliminated, but in the last 2 episodes 3 teams missing flights, wow.
I had thought that Uchenna and Joyce were the team to beat, as they race strong, the race also brings some fatigue into play. They took a gamble and knew it. Another reviewer said they would not have taken it, hindsight is always 20/20 but that is not what got them eliminated, not looking for all the flights did. Charla and Mirna looked and found a double connection that got them in a few hours ahead of the others, now that is what the race is all about.
You do not have to like them, but respect them for being the best of the final 4. They took a calculated gamble before, going to South Africa rather than hoping to get a standby flight with the rest of the teams. Hello, Johannesburg is a much bigger airport with much more flights, and the chances of getting out were much higher, even if they had missed that flight. It was not a wild gamble at all.
At the yield, I was surprised that when the teams got there they did not go to the other one right away, to find one cookie out of that mountain would have made me leave. But Charla and Mirna blew their yield by trying it, but the tasks are not their strong part, it is the traveling.
Did Dustin/Kandice guess wrong on the yield, in my opinion, no. The yielded the strongest physical team, not knowing what the next tasks would be. They are trying to win a million dollars, not make friends.
The stress in the race is getting to the teams. One reviewer said it was the first time that Danny and Oswald were fighting, not true, on the glacier they fought as well. The remaining teams that are getting along the best are the 2 all female teams.
The detour had it's moments, especially when teams would get there and see a mountain of cookies, not knowing the other teams had switched tasks. The roadblock was interesting. Yes the women had a huge advantage, the people went out of their way to help them, and Oswald was tired, hot and last.
When he bought the papers he spent almost all their money for the leg, over $100, but he wanted to stay in the race, and that is a smart move, not knowing that Uchenna and Joyce were no where to be found.
The fact that Uchenna and Joyce got there about 12 hours after the rest of the teams shows their determination and flying thru go knows how many different airports. I will miss them, a great team with good ethics.
Who will win, it is anybody's guess. If the challenges get more physical then put Eric and Danielle, Dustin and Kandice to the top, if more crazy travel, then put Charla and Mirna but never ever count out Danny and Oswald.
I think this season will be the second time an all woman team won, the first all woman team to win an Amazing race was the initial season of Amazing Race Asia when Joe Jer and Zabrina won. I wish they would show that race even it they show it late night on GSN. I caught most of it on You Tube before Sony got cranky. But even after they made them take down all the episodes, they did allow the final run to the finish to show, guess they figured they could use some good advertising for the show.

Show Review: By far the best and pretty great for family (depending on the age of the kids of course). You have to be prepared to discuss the relaionships of the different teams and be prepared to discuss less than ideal behaviour but considering they have to deal with these things in the real world, I don't see that as a downside.

As for my review of the Amazing Race Website:: Not so Great ...
For more than a couple years, our family has searched for a 'reliable' online application to join the show - preferably the family version. But how can you tell if an application site is legitimate and why won't CBS post an application link right to their website (or am I completely overlooking it). The site kills me really. If you type in the CBS website with a forward slash and then amazingrace, you get the all-star season. If you then click on Amazing Race from the list of shows, you get an old season ... the only way to get the new season is to just go to the man CBS site and THEN click on shows and THEN click on Amazing Race ... Any ideas on how to find a true page with a true application (and how you know that it's 'the real thing'). ACK.

In short: The show is fantastic but web searching - well, this chat area seems to be the only area where you can get current reviews and feedback so far.
