The Cookie Diet

What is The Cookie Diet? Don't ask your Grandmother that question. Growing up, the words cookie and diet were not meant to be used in the same sentence. But don't stop putting your hand in the cookie jar just yet. Read on as this lens will show you the evolution of the cookie diet and break down exactly how the cookie diet works. Good diet investment or garbage? Let's find out.

Dr. Siegal Cookie Diet

The Cookie DietToday, there are quite a few cookie diets available in the market. The Hollywood Cookie Diet, Dr. Seigal's Cookie Diet, Slim For Life Cookie Diet, and more...

The history of the cookie diet starts around 1975 when Florida based weight loss doctor 'Dr. Sanford Siegal' created a diet cookie to help his "at risk" patients lose weight. At risk patients were considered those with high blood pressure, overweight, and heart disease. Dr. Siegal achieved his goal by creating a unique blend of protein amino acids that curb the appetite and block hunger. These cookies became great alternatives to herbal diet pills like nuphedrine.

This sounds too good to be true right? Well, its not. The diet cookies are not delicious but they are edible and the results they provide can be very motivating. For a full review on the cookie diet, visit You On a Diet and read their review on Dr Siegals Cookie Diet.

Hollywood Cookie Diet

Hollywood Cookie Diet

The Hollywood cookie diet received its name from all the celebrity attention / popularity and has been featured in Oxegen Magazine, In Touch Magazine, NBC's hit TV show Lipstick Jungle, and more... The Hollywood Cookie diet is very similar to the Dr. Siegal Cookie Diet in that their cookies are low calorie and will essentially replace most of your daily meals. The Hollywood cookie diet is available at most pharmacies including: Walgreens, Ekerd, and Rite Aid. The Hollywood cookie diet comes in the following flavors (listed below in order from left to right): Chocolate Chip, Lemon, Oatmeal Raisin, and Variety Packs.

Cookie Diet Risks

Most diets have risks. It the reality of dieting. Here are some of the risks surrounding the cookie diet.

Many nutritionists believe the low calorie intake while on the cookie diet is borderline unhealthy. Most will agree that the body requires a certain amount of nutrients to operate optimally. Dr. Siegal disagrees. He feels the best method to lose weight is to ingest less calories.

Although the cookie diet is effective, I do not think it should be considered as a long term solution. I would recommend using the cookie diet long enough to get down to your desired weight.

Another risk is the lack of variety. This may seem a little silly but let's think about this. Eating the same foods over and over can make a diet very boring (especially when the results slow down). Dietitians say that a lack of variety can lead to binge eating which usually ends up with unhealthy weight fluctuation.
