Dave Matthews Band Grey Street
Anyone who has been blessed enough to watch Dave and guys rock the stage in one of their many regular summer tour stops understands the power of the music. One of the great instrumental bands of all time; the drums, bass, electric guitar, and Dave's patent dance moves has developed a following compariable to The Greatful Dead's "Dead Heads". If you've not jumped aboard the bus with Dave and the guys it is time. Let me show you how!

Time Bomb
Dave Matthews Band has managed to do it again. Their recent release of Big Whiskey & The Groo Grux King is a bitter sweet collection of DMB's new tracks--my opinion the best CD since Dave paired with famed guitarist Timmy Reynolds. Among the many outstanding tracks on this new album track number 11 seems to be stuck in my head like the beauty of an Oregon Costal sunset. The song opens with some very powerful words;--"If I'm a ticking time bomb, waiting to blow my top, no one would ever know, not until I blew up."--
and in an ultimate statement of the value of life, the song ends with;
--"Baby when I get home, help me pick up the pieces, hammer in the final nail, I wanna believe in Jesus."--
As we say 'goodbye' to the best sax player in our generation, we open a door to a new chapter for Dave Matthew's Band fans. The new CD is littered for opportunities to understand life's journey and draw strength and energy from the powerful lyrics Dave belts out each any every song.

Big Whiskey and the Groogrux King
Credit(s) Wikipedia, AntsMarching.org
Big Whiskey and the Groogrux King includes many firsts, which both scares and excites the die-hard fans. Most importantly, it is the first studio album since the passing of founding member of Dave Matthews Band and saxophonist LeRoi Moore. It is also the first studio album in five years since the disappointing Stand Up in 2005. Guitarist and long time friend Tim Reynolds is included in the album and last was heard on 1998's Before These Crowded Streets. Rashawn Ross will make his first appearance on a DMB studio album since joining as a touring member in 2006 as will Jeff Coffin of Béla Fleck & The Flecktones, who has taken LeRoi Moore's role since June 2008. Keyboardist Butch Taylor does not appear on the album, as he left the band in the spring of 2008. The producer of the album is Rob Cavallo who has worked with Alanis Morissette and Green Day, among others. The album was originally slated to be released on April 14, 2009 with a show at New York City's Madison Square Garden to celebrate the release. Fans were originally promised "first-ever live performances" of the new album during the sixteen-stop Spring 2009 tour promoting Big Whiskey and the Groogrux King. In mid-February, Dave Matthews Band pushed the official release date after the Spring 2009 tour to June 2, 2009 which disappointed many fans who purchased tickets to the spring tour.
The albums title Big Whiskey and the Groogrux King was first announced in an email sent to the Warehouse Fan Association members on Feb. 26, 2009. Dave Matthews Band official Web site posted it the following day. "Groogrux" is a nickname for the late LeRoi Moore given to him by his friends. Rashawn Ross mentioned that on his MySpace page after LeRoi's passing. Cater called LeRoi "Grux" in a video posted by Stefan Lessard called How We Have Fun Before The Show. On February 22, Dave Matthews teased the title via his Twitter page "...still here dancing with the Groo Grux King. We'll be drinking big whiskey while we dance and sing. When I get to the end, I'm gonna end%u2026."
Dave Matthews Band used three recording studios during the process of making Big Whiskey and the Groogrux King. The most recent was Piety Street Recording Studio in New Orleans, La where they finalized the album starting in January 2009. Before that, Dave Matthews Band used Studio X in Seattle, Washington from October to December 2008 and Studio Litho in Seattle, Washington in February of 2008. LeRoi Moore passed away during pre-production of Big Whiskey and the Groogrux King.
Big Whiskey and the Groogrux King track list is still unknown. Tim Reynolds said "This new record will be familiar sounding, but there will be some new twists." mentioning the addition of Jeff Coffin on the saxophone and Rashawn Ross on the trumpet. "I think we'll bring a fresh burst of sound to the band. We have Rob Cavallo producing us%u2026. He's really pushing the DMB and it's already very interesting." Initial feedback from the recording has been very positive.

Dave Matthews Bio
Dave Matthews has chronicled his life's travels so often that when asked, he can rattle off the details without pause. It goes like this:Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, in 1967. Moves two years later with his family to Westchester County, NY, where his dad, a physicist, goes to work for IBM. Then, in the early `70s, to Cambridge, England, before returning to New York - where his dad died in 1977. The family moved back to South Africa in 1980, where Matthews went to a few different schools and "got more wise about the evils of government, there and in general." O.K.; pause for a breath.
The key move for Dave Matthews Band fans, of course, was when he relocated in 1986 to Charlottesville, VA, where his parents had lived before he was born. Though he also logged time back in South Africa and in Amsterdam, it was in Charlottesville where Matthews - who took piano lessons as a child before picking up the guitar at age nine - became part of the local music community and hatched the idea for his own band. "I didn't really have a vision, or a plan," says Matthews, acknowledging that some of his musical sensibility came from spending time in so many different places as a child. "I'm sure it gave me a little bit of an openness. The most diverse music in the world is in America, 'cause there's so many different cultures here, but what tends to be pushed to the top is often a narrow view of what there really is. So maybe (his travels) just gave me a wider pool of listening."
Matthews says his principal goal with the band was to surround himself with the best players possible. To this day he remains "amazed" that he was able to recruit and retain the four musicians he rather modestly refers to as his superiors. "I was just looking for people that I liked," explains Matthews, who feels he's "gotten a bit better" over the years. "Could I play with them was more of the question, I think. We just ended up fitting together. The band wasn't something that I was looking for; it was very much I loved the people I asked to play with me. There was a connection at the beginning, and I think what we've been about is not some grand scheme but more

Grace is Gone Lyrics

Neon shines through smokey eyes tonight
It's 2 A.M., I'm drunk again
And it's heavy on my mind
I could never love again
So much as I love you
Where you end, where I begin
Is like a river running through
Take my heart, take my eyes
I need them no more
If never again they fall
Upon the one I so adore...
Excuse me please, one more drink
Could you make it strong?
'Cause I don't need to think
She broke my heart
My Grace is Gone
Another drink and I'll be gone
One drink to remember
Then another to forget
I think of every day to find
A love like you again
One drink to remember
And another to forget
Excuse me please, one more drink
Could you make it strong?
'Cause I don't need to think
She broke my heart
My Grace is Gone
Another drink and I'll be gone
One more drink and I'll move on
You think of things impossible
Then the sun refuse to shine
I woke with you beside me
Your cold hand lay in mine
Excuse me please, one more drink
Could you make it strong?
'Cause I don't need to think
She broke my heart
My Grace is Gone
Another drink and I'll go...
Excuse me please, one more drink
Could you make it strong?
'Cause I don't need to think
She broke my heart
My Grace is Gone
Another drink and I'll move on
One more drink and I'll move on
One more drink, my grace is gone.

Have Something You Want Dave and Band to Know? Here is Your Chance
Dave Plays the Gorge at George
My Experience
I remember it like it was yesterday, I was a freshman in college at Lewis and Clark State in Lewiston, Idaho--a young accounting major--who had been convinced by a friend that the only thing keeping me from heavan was the Paloose Highway and a freedom ride to George, Washington to watch one of the greatest bands who has ever taken the stage. Like you, I was skeptical at the large promises my friend--who was known for his skewed account of reality--had tossed upon my narrow shoulders. Yet, I needed very little convincing to take a road trip that offered promises of beer, great music, memories and ladies.

The day started as any normal day in a college students life typically did--I awoke shaking off the crust from my eyes that hid the drunk dancing the night before, packed my pillow and toothbrush and loaded into a 85 Ford Tempo with a black rattle can paint job with 5 of my closest friends! We hit the road listening to Satillite and Dancing Nancies setting the stage for that evenings great event.
Arriving at the Gorge was like pulling into the pearly gates heaven is promised to be lined with. Add a six pack of Natural Ice and I knew I was going to have the best time of my life. The evening began as soon as I rounded the corner of the concert grounds and the stage was revealed; only to be enhanced by the Gorge Canyon and river behind it. 30,000 people followed migratory paths into the concert grounds just in time for Dave to take the stage with his patent accoustic guitar and deliver a ah inspiring verison of Ants Marching. As the night grew older so did my life with the Dave Matthews Band that evening; and 10 years later I still find myself migrating with those same 5 friends and a six pack of Natural Ice to relive a night in heaven all over again.
