The Higher Self

You are a far more powerful being than you think you are. Your Higher Self is your connection to the universe and to universal wisdom and knowledge.

The Higher Self is a part of our minds which exists at a higher level. It can be likened to standing at the top of a mountain, looking down on your life.

The Abraham Hicks books on the Law of Attraction talk about your Inner Being. This is another way to describe the Higher Self. In other words, we are truly bigger than we think we are.

Say, for example, you are involved in a conflict with someone. At the level of the conflict, you are caught up in it. You are angry and upset, and so is the other person. You can't see a way forward.

Now imagine you are standing at the top of a mountain, looking down on the situation. Suddenly, it looks different. You have more perspective. You can see things you were not able to see before. The Higher Self offers us this higher perspective all the time.

I am still researching the Higher Self in connection with African traditions. I have been told that, in the Yoruba tradition of West Africa, the Higher Self is the same as Eleda, the crown chakra, or Oludumare, the supreme deity.

The Higher Self is a part of us that is connected to the universe. It can help us to find the answer to any question, or the solution to any problem. It is always willing and eager to offer us guidance. The Higher Self will always offer a solution which is best for everyone concerned, and which helps us to achieve harmony and growth, and experience joy and love.

By tapping into this deep inner wisdom, we can learn to rely on our own guidance for healing, and to help us to achieve any goal.

We can work with light in order to rapidly manifest the things we want, and to transform difficult situations. We can bring about amazing results.

When we work with light, we are our Higher Selves.

Your Higher self is your connection with the universe In order to open to the universe and receive the things you want, you first need to clear away your blocks and obstacles. Your Higher Self will help you with this process.

You may need to work at a deep level, to overcome your core programming. For more about this, see Core Conditioning.

Another example: you want to find the answers to questions as to why you cannot find the job you want. After you contact the Higher Self and ask it for help, you will find exactly the book you need which will help you understand your issues and blocks - what is stopping you from achieving your goals.

Or you will switch on the TV or the radio one day and someone will be talking about this issue - or will even mention the name of the ideal company for you to approach about some work. Or you will open a newspaper or magazine, or a friend will mention something to you. Something will happen that will provide you with the answers you need. Whenever you ask the Higher Self for help, we always receive that help.

In his book Calm for Life, Paul Wilson describes how, when he is working on a book about a specific subject, such as whales for example, he will often receive a phonecall out of the blue from someone who is an expert on just that subject. He also says he knows of thousands of other writers and readers who have had similar experiences. He calls this 'intuition' or the 'unconscious mind', but this is also what happens when we work with the Higher Self.

Did you know that when Napoleon Hill's book Think and Grow Rich was first published, many references to vibrations were deleted? Mention of vibrations was censored.

Many of us respond to vibrations as sound. Last night, I saw a TV programme about how cats respond to music. This was fascinating to me, as when I went away recently, I left a CD of The Mozart Effect to be played for my cat every day, to calm her down.

Now that the Abraham Hicks material is being published, many more people are becoming aware of vibrations.

Here's the real secret: helping others is the key to success.

I read a piece in the Voice today by columnist Ella Henderson. She was talking about how she spent her Xmas, volunteering with Crisis at Christmas, who provide Xmas dinners for homeless people around London.

Henderson remarked that doing this helped her to become aware of just how lucky she is. Many of us could do with this type of reminder. Gratitude and appreciation for the way our lives are now are keys to creating a successful future.

You may find it difficult to connect with the Higher Self at first. Sometimes, our old emotional wounds or negative thought patterns block our connection with the Higher Self. But the Higher Self is eager to help us. It is waiting for us to ask for help so that it can offer its guidance and wisdom to us. It is worthwhile persisting with our efforts to connect with the Higher Self, our own deep inner wisdom.

Actually, we don't really need to connect with the Higher Self. It is working on our behalf all the time. We just need to let it in and allow it to bring us what we deeply desire.

Spiritual Response Therapy (SRT) is another way to connect with the Higher Self.

The Higher Self can give us very detailed information to help us solve any problem, and to heal the wounded parts of ourselves. Robert Detzler, a Christian minister, has developed a technique called Spiritual Response Therapy (SRT). In SRT, we work under the guidance of the Higher Self with charts that tells us about our old patterns, or 'programs'. Detzler believes that these programs may include material from previous lifetimes, other dimensions, or even parallel universes. Once we have researched these programs with the use of the charts, the Higher Self can clear them.

People have used SRT to clear up relationship problems, money issues, health problems - anything that stands in the way of our happiness and greater good.

You do not have to be a Christian or believe in God to work with the Higher Self.
