How It All Began

I used to follow my passion which was tennis. When it started to look like tennis is not an option for me any more I had no idea what I would do next. I didn't want to be a tennis coach, that seemed like a waste of my potential. But I didnt have a college degree and couldn't think of anything else I was really passionate about...untill i discovered the internet that is.

Ever since I discovered the internet I was pretty much hooked. It all started on facebook. I heard about it a few times but wasn't very interested. Once I tried it out though I couldn't leave it alone. The internet was a place where the whole world was my audience and I could be anything I want. I eventually discovered a social network called Yuwie through Facebook and this is how I got interested in making money online.

10DollarsWonder

I made my first money online with a HYIP(High Yield Investment Program) would you believe. Yes HYIP's are ALL scams but it is actually possible to make money with them. However you will never make a living from it and I don't recommend it to anyone, ever. Its is actually illegal and these people are just after your money and sooner or later they all to the infamous 'hit and run'.

It's pretty obvious when programs pay 100-500 % ROI per month that they can't last. They usually pay a few people at the start after which they gain some credibility. Then it's just case of hype, as long as new members keep coming in they have money to pay the older members. This is of course no way to run a business because they often don't even have a source of income.

Whatever the case may be I had made my first money online and I was not going to stop, it felt way too good :-) While I was into the whole investment thing a program that I have heard of before came to my attention again called 10DollarsWonder. As opposed to the HYIP's this was a cycler, which means it is sustainable in the long run. I didn't have pleasent experiences with cyclers before so I wasn't so sure about this program, even though I heard good things about it.

A cycler is a program where people buy advertising positions which causes other member's positions to cycle which means they get paid. So there is no hype involved and everyone knows exactly what's going on behind the scenes. The problem I had with cyclers is that if other people didn't invest then your position won't cycle and there seemed to be no guarantee that people would invest. Besides the cyclers I tried before have always disappointed me.

10dollarswonder is something altogether different though. An advertising position costs $10. For every position that is bought by a member a total of 70 positions cycle and a one cycle yields $0,10 for a position. So if someone buys 100 positions 7000 positions cycle, if 1000 positions are bought 70 000 positions will cycle, etc. This creates a lot of momentum. A member is allowed to buy up to 500 positions. It's hard to say how many positions cycle in a month, it varies of course. In November my friend had a 100 positions and he made $600 for instance.

That is a ROI of 60% in one month which is pretty awesome. So really 10DollarsWonder is my main income from the internet at this point. The reason it's called 10DollarsWonder is that you can buy one position and just leave it there so that it keeps cycling and eventually you will have a million dollars. Of course you are not limited to only one position so why wait?! I just bought 23 positions and is about to buy 49 more. I totally recommend this program even if you just start small, I don't think there is anything like it on the internet.

Affiliate Marketing

It didn't take me long to get into affiliate marketing, something that I would pursue for a whole year. I liked affiliate marketing because it gave an opportunity to create leverage. When you build a downline after a while it starts building itself. This is the concept of leverage. The idea is to work hard in the beginning and in the long run sit back while others do the work for you. This is harder then it sounds though and very few people ever make money this way.

The hardest part is getting referrals. And it's even harder if they have to pay to join. I have gotten referrals for both programs that is free and that charges you to join, and in neither i have made any substantial money. The problem is that there is very few really good affiliate programs that you can actually make money. Most of it is just a bunch of hype and lies. For this reason i have mainly lost interest in affilaite marketing.

I gave it a year and it hardly gave me anything. Plus I got sick of the selling eventually. Everyone is always trying to sell their program and hardly ever cares about the people they refer. As long as they sign up and help the sponsor to get their commission the sponsor is happy. I was never a seller and I thought maybe online selling would be easier since you don't wrok directly with people, but eventually it annoyed the hell out of me.

Squidoo

Another thing I got into and was immidiately impressed with was of course Squidoo. Squidoo is a great place to do many things. It's a place where you can express yourself and tell people about yourself and your interests. You get to create your own website form scratch and it's all costomized and made very easy.

Squidoo is different from blogging in that it's not all just content. There is many different modules that you can all use together to make a fantastic website. It's really a fantastic tool that is absolutely free to use and also a great community. Everyone is helpful and it's just a really upbeat community.

Squidoo is a place where you can can make a positive contribution to the community and get to know yourself, but you can also learn so much more. People make so many interesting lenses that is not only fun too look at but is educational and can enrich your life.

And of course with Squidoo you can make money. Some people are making a living from squidoo while others are just using it as another tool to create an online presence. Whatever the case may be Squidoo has a great reputation with Google and therefor it's pretty easy to get ranked high in the search enigines.

If you have quality content and got your keywords right it's a great way to sell your products. Squidoo also uses adsense, amazon, ebay and other sources to make an income form your lenses which they use to cover their costs and pay it's members. Squidoo really has infinite possibilities.

Lenses That I Have Found Helpful

Social Networking

Social networking is something that interested me from the start. Not only is it a place where you can socialize and network but it's also a place where you can make money these days by referring new members. Social network like Myspace and Facebook are making millions of dollars each month in advertising revenue but they keep it all to themselves.

The new generation of social networks like Yuwie, Zenzuu and others are sharing this advertising revenue with members. By referring free members to these networks it is becoming possible to make a good income from these networks in the long run. This certainly seems to be the new trend, so Myspace and Facebook look out!

My Myspace Profile
Myspace is a good place to get some exposure for your sites and not a bad place to meat people.
My Facebook Profile
When it comes to getting traffic to my sites I prefer Myspace, but I like Facebook better for socializing.
Zenzuu Signup Link
Zenzuu is a new network that shares it's advertisong revenue with members. I have about 15 000 referrals here but they are still in the early phases so no significant income yet. Hopefully Zenzuu can become a good long term income for me.

Blogging

As I've said before the whole affiliate marketing thing has become annoying and outworn for me. I just don't believe in pyramid schemes and leverage the way I used to. Since I discovered that i'ts possible to make money from blogging it has become a long term goal of mine to monetize my blog.

I feel with blogging you are actually offering a real service to people as opposed to hunting for their money and promoting a business which you don't even believe in yourself. It's a more honourable way to make money online in my mind and you don't sell anything. You simply put ads on your site and when people click them you get paid.

Of course that is not as simple as it sounds. You have to create quality content that people are interested in and it takes time to build traffic to your site. You need thousands of pageviews per day to get enough clicks to make a significant income form blogging. There is people making a five figure income and even a six figure income per month from blogging is possible!

If there is something you are really passionate about and you like to write this is definitely the way to go. Not only can you make money with it but it will also give exposure to your other online vetures and allow you to create and even bigger online presence. For instance I have an RSS feed of my squidoo profile on my blog for exposure to my lenses.

But don't expect maricles overnight. At the moment blogging is something I do for enjoyment and some added exposure to my lenses. It would take at least a year to yield a significant income from blogging for me.

Ru-an's Federer Blog

This is my blog about the greatest tennis player of all time, Roger Federer. As a former tennis player I am still very interested in tennis. And nothing in tennis interest me more then Roger Federer. He is 27 years old and have already won 13 grand slam titles, including 5 straight Wimbledon titles and 5 straight US Open titles. Not only is he the greatest tennis player of all time in my mind but he is also a very popular human being and liked all over the world. This blog is dedicated to him and follows he's every move, as well as men's tennis in general.

My Daily Routine

I have bad sleeping habits. I go to bed at about 3 am and wake up at about 12 pm. Ive always been a night person and never been a morning person though. I'm happy sleeping the morning away and I like being online into the early hours in the morning.

After I get up I meditate for 15-20 minutes. This is an important part of my day and puts me in a good frame of mind and gets me focused. Depending on how much I ate the day before I might grab a small snack, or just not eat. After this it's off to the computer to check what is new.

This is one of my favorite parts because i've been away for a while and I get to see what has happened in the mean time. I would stay online untill before dark and then I go for a run. I only run every second day though but whether i go for a run or not I meditate again later in the day.

After meditation I have my main meal after which I go back online and I would stay online untill bed time. Oh yeah and I normaly have another small meal around midnight. That's pretty much it, my daily routine. The good thing is I have a passion for the internet so I dont get bored easily.

Do You Have What It Takes?

The internet is a great place to make an income because you have the world as your market. But like anything you need a passion for it if you want to enjoy it and be succesful at it. There is a lot of scams and people out there who wants to take your money.

If you don't have the patience and will to get past those hurdles you won't succeed. Being successful online takes patience and perseverance but is worth the effort because you'll be your own boss, work from the comfort of your home and never have to drive through peak traffic!
