The AGAPE Love of God is the foundation to ALL things in the Christian life. It is Gods commandment that we walk in this love. It is NOT a suggestion

Definition: Agape Love is unconditional, one way love, regardless of circumstance
For the Christian, this is the most important message that you can hear. Very little will happen in your life if you fail to get this fully understood and working in your life, and there is reason for concern if you deliberately choose to ignore this message

Matthew 22:34-40 (New King James Version)
34 But when the Pharisees heard that He had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered together. 35 Then one of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, and saying, 36 "Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?"
37 Jesus said to him, "'you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.'[a] 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbour as yourself.'[b] 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets."

Jesus was ushering in a new age where by grace would reign. He would become the atoning sacrifice for sin, so now to keep the entire law, only two things are required.
1) Love the Lord your God
2) Love your neighbour as yourself

Life without Agape Love, does not flow

Imagine the Love of God, Agape love as a wardrobe rail, you are the wardrobe and the clothes hangers are blessings and prayers. Now, how you live your life is determined by how securely the rail is fixed in your life. When you get born again, you receive the Holy Spirit. He is God, and God is Love (and in this analogy, love is the rail). The rail comes in to your life. It is up to you, the Christian to ensure that it is firmly fixed in your life (the wardrobe), or else when you put those hangers on it, the rail will not stay up for long until it comes crashing down.

What are the hangers?
The hangers are your prayers. They are the fruit of the blessing (or blessings in your life). If your prayers just never seem to get answered, or blessings just don't happen, you need to check the rail. If the rail has come off, and those hangers are on the floor, your prayers and blessings will come to nothing.

Jesus defines eternal life as "Zoe-Life"

In the passage below, the lawyer says to Jesus "what am I to do to inherit everlasting life"? Jesus asks him what the law says. The mans reply was to love the Lord your God (1st commandment). It is interesting to find out what Jesus said. The definition of the Greek life is zoe (which means life). Zoe is the life which God has. It is not just everlasting, you won't die life, it is the fullness of life that includes the following: -
Live forever spiritually
Be healthy
Live a long life
Prosper

Luke 10:25-28 (Amplified Bible)
25And then a certain lawyer arose to try (test, tempt) Him, saying, Teacher, what am I to do to inherit everlasting life [that is, to partake of eternal salvation in the Messiah's kingdom]?
26Jesus said to him, What is written in the Law? How do you read it?
27And he replied, You must love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind; and your neighbour as yourself.(A)
28And Jesus said to him, You have answered correctly; do this, and you will live [enjoy active, blessed, endless life in the kingdom of God].

John in his letter puts in to perspective that loving your brother determines your love toward God

1 John 4:20-21 (New International Version)
20If anyone says, "I love God," yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. 21And he has given us this command: Whoever loves God must also love his brother.

If you want to have Zoe-Life, you need to love your brother. You need to have the same love that God loves us with, operating in and through you towards your brother/ neighbour
