The Silva Mind Method

The Silva Mind Method taught me some very valuable lessons early in life. Lessons which I still remember today, more than 25 years later. The Silva Mind Method teaches students how to control their own minds and how to use their minds for more than just mundane daily tasks.

I remember the day my best friend from high school approached me with the idea of going. Michael was one of those people that I trusted implicitly, but Mind Control? Come on! No one can control the minds of others.

We took The Silva Mind Method classes in four days over two weekends. On the very first day Gretchen, the teacher, told us that we would learn techniques to control our own minds and not the minds of others people. Which is a darn shame because one of the other students had a very attractive mind indeed and the young man in me wanted desperately to control her mind. She certainly made it difficult for me to control mine.

One exercise we performed allowed us to wake without an alarm clock. To this day, I do not use an alarm clock to wake myself. I can recall missing only one appointment in the last 25 years and that had more to do with me not having enough sleep.

I still have an alarm clock I built form a kit my aunt bought me in high school. It has a radio and I leave it in the shed for times when I putter out there. I have not used it since those two weekends.

The Silva Mind Method involved a new way of learning as well as a new way of using my mind. We learned about the Alpha. It's a state of mental relaxation which is very easy to obtain. During class we would learn a few concepts, then drop into Alpha and passively listen to the instructor recite the lesson again.

I recall hearing a few snores in there. Alpha is a really relaxed state of mind and sleep comes easily. After the recitation was complete, we'd take a break and move on to the next lesson.
