    I think the only thing that would TRULY make Damon hurt Stefan is to protect Elena. Everything he does now centers around his love for her, and he could never betray her in that way.

    Hurt? Possibly. Kill? Never. Either way, he'd have to do it by way of someone or something else so Elena wouldn't find out.

    I think that if Damon were to hurt Stefan or Elena, he would truly be alone, for eternity, and although he gets angry and goes nuts, he knows this and that knowing will hold him back.
