Scooter Helmets... Just as Important As If You Were On A Motorcycle
For some crazy reason people have this idea that riding Vespa or any other scooter is safe, innocent and there is no need for a scooter helmet. This is just crazy. Anytime you are on a motorbike, helmets are needed.
Recent studies show that there is a pattern in the price of gas and the number of motorbikes (scooters included)... the more gas prices rise the more bikes that are coming on the roads.
And while only 2% of the roads are taking up by motorbikes, they account for 10% of accidents. And sure, scooters do have a smaller engine then a motorcycle but lets face it... those little guys still go speeding by pretty quickly.
But with helmets being considered "uncool" I am working to change it all around. Below you will see 5 top scooter helmets that we offer in our motorbike helmets selection... so there is no excuse and it's clear that you can look stylish while staying safe on the roads.

What To Look For In A Scooter Helmet
Safety, Comfort and Stylish Scooter Helmets
First off, no one wants to look like a dork by sporting a geeky helmet, this is the main issue keeping people on motorbikes and scooters from wearing a helmet in the first place. But helmets have come a long way...
And yes, you can find scooter helmets that are "stylish". When looking for a helmet there are a few factors to keep in mind...
1. You like it. If you settle for just any ol' helmet just because of the price or because the sales guy at the scooter store talked you into it, then it's a give away that you aren't going to wear it. It will end up on the garage shelf and collecting dust.
2. Safety approved. The Department of Transportation (DOT) have set helmet regulations and for a DOT approved helmet, it has to go through a series of tests to meet their helmet expectations. If there is not a DOT approval stamp on the back of the helmet (generally, the lower part) or in the inside of the helmet then it's not approved and it is best for you to keep looking.
There is another approval that is highly accepted too... Snell approval. The Snell Foundation has set high standards and changes their requirements more frequently then DOT. Both are highly accepted approvals for your scooter helmets.

3. Comfort. A good helmet is designed to be worn for long trips... go for a lightweight, high comfort engineered helmet. There are plenty available that won't have you breaking the bank.
