Toilet Paper. The Beginning or The End.

My Kingdom for a toilet roll. We all need it, well most of us anyway, at least in the civilised world.I have found to date that there are over 1600 different types of Toilet roll I kid you not.( There are probably a lot more than but that's as far as I got). Doing research on the humble loo roll is not for the faint hearted i can tell you. The numbers alone are staggering. One person in the US per year, guess?  20.000 sheets. In Canada the toilet roll market is worth a staggering USD$44,331,000.The Pentagon uses 660 rolls a day and that's a fact. And get this, the average person in a lifetime spends 3 years on the Loo, 3 years. What a waste of time. So here are some great ideas and products to use whilst on the loo.And on a more somber note please remember recycle where you can.Bear this in mind.

By Recycling 1 ton of paper you save:
- 17 trees 6953 gallons of water
- 463 gallons of oil
- 587 pounds of air pollution
- 3.06 cubic yards of landfill space
- 4077 Kilowatt hours of energy.

The humble toilet roll

Getting started

We all take the humble toilet roll for granted.
It got me thinking, how many different toilet papers are there? I have met a few uncomfortable ones in my time, reminds me of a trip through France a few years ago. Stopping at a small cafe in a quaint village in the Ardeche, we asked the waitress if we could use the toilets.(kids and wife were busting). She duly led us outside and up through a garden, and at the top of the garden was a little tin shed. Inside the shed were two planks going across a hole in the floor, and hung on a piece of string was a neat pile of square cut newspapers. Kids were scared to death of falling in the hole, and my youngest daughter(Molly Ann who was five at the time) came running down the path screaming,"dada dada muma says theres monsters in there". The wife couldn't get out quick enough. Well i suppose it was pretty good recycling and it was free.
Anyway back to Le bog roll.So here are my top ten favourites.

Prior to toilet paper? I'm so thankful I live in this day and age...I tell you the last time I went to Germany/Austria I took my own TP, theirs was like bark off a tree. I also can give you many Toilet and TP stories from Europe.

I grew to appreciate toilet paper during my first trip to Europe. I have many notes about the various papers (and toilet facilities) encountered along the way!

Ummm...I do remember the Sears and Roebuck catalog at my grandparents place. Who knew there was such a variety available and also interested what has been used in the past. Blessed!

I am sure we never used a discarded sheep! Coconut shells? Ouch!

Much fun - my 11 yr old son will love it.
