The Big Debate Club Question # 1
Do You Believe The World Will End As Some Predict In The Year 2012?

mulberry says:
No, I have no reason to believe it will. It will end sometime of course.

No! Why?
grannysage says:
No, the Mayan calendar just rolls over. But I am thinking that Mother Earth maybe be considering cleaning house some time in the future. We humans have become quite a problem for her.

The world is not going to end. The Mayan calendar ran out in 2012 because they were all wiped out from the face of the earth. (I do believe) So! There was no one to continue the calendar.

LaraineRose says:
There are so very many saying yes. I'm going to have to say that I couldn't handle 50 lenses right now. Maybe some day. I guess that would depend on your definition of 'effectively', and which someone you mean. Lens juggling is hard if your time is limited. I think it would be very difficult to have 50 or more lenses that never went neglected for promotion or polishing.

Even though the U.S. and world economies have been dealt a severe blow by a dogmatic belief in the infallibility of "the Market" on the part of many Americans, the next four years will see an explosion in technological and conceptual innovations (inside and outside of America) that will not only help us humans to meet the many challenges we face today, but also help to grow the economy. If McCain had won the election, the U.S. would have continued to fall furthur and furthur behind countries like Japan and China in terms of both wealth and influence. But I think Obama has already began to put America back on course to be a leader in the 21st century instead of a once-great power. I really think he's the right person at the right time.

Posted April 19, 2009
klieneine says:
Absolutely.Raising animals for food is an extremely inefficient way to feed a growing human population. The U.S. livestock population consumes enough grain and soybeans to feed more than five times the entire U.S. population. One acre of pasture produces an average of 165 pounds of beef; the same acre can produce 20,000 pounds of potatoes. If Americans reduced their meat consumption by only 10 percent, it would free 12 million tons of grain annually for human consumption. That alone would be enough to adequately feed each of the 60 million people who starve to death each year. (4)

roysumit says:
Yes. We are citizen of this country by birth, not by choice. So
why should we impose restrictions on their choice?

I think they should be allowed to stay as long as they are working to become a legal citizen (pay taxes). I just want them to abide by the same laws as citizens and pay for the resources they use.
Posted April 19, 2009
hlkljgk says:
of course they should. we are prosperous free country and we are all lucky to live in it. share the wealth; love thy neighbor... i do believe they should be on a path to becoming "legal."
Posted April 14, 2009
They Should Be Sent Back To Their Native Country! Why?
LindaJM says:
If they enter illegally they should go back. If they want to immigrate it should be done legally or not at all. Every job in the USA taken by an illegal alien is one less job available to American citizens who were born here. Other countries don't allow illegal immigration (then forgive it) so why should the USA? And this thing about the USA being a prosperous country that can share is becoming less valid all the time. Many thousands of Americans are out of work now... but illegal aliens are working in this country. It just isn't right.

Vegitarians & those eating other meats on Easter can ignore this one:)
Here is the big question for Easter:) Turkey Or Ham For Easter Dinner?

Ham
Treasures-By-Brenda says:
Ham for me at Easter. (Happens to be my number three lens right now so a few other people have been eating ham lately, too!)

Should the one surviving Somoli pirate that held Cpt Phillips hostage be brought to U.S. for trial?
Fetching blurbs now... please stand byYes! Why?
drifter0658 says:
yes, but I also think a fair accounting of what is happening needs to be told. Such as, the pirates have not killed a single hostage in the ten years they have been doing this. And that the U.N. helped the world look away while some European countries were dumping toxic waste off the coast of Somalia. The list is long, but to call these men the most dangerous in the world is far from the truth.

No! Why?
LindaJM says:
No. He should be tried in his own country. Do you really think he'd get a fair trial here? He certainly wouldn't be judged by a jury of his peers.

Do You Think Casey Anthony Will Be Convicted Of Killing Her Daughter?
Fetching blurbs now... please stand byYes! Why?
garson3000 says:
YES. Because all evidence points to her involvement. Her lack of cooperation with the investigating authorities and her lack of remorse at the death of her child will earn her a long stay in Prison.
Posted June 12, 2009
LindaJM says:
Probably so. I'm not saying I condemn her but just that it doesn't look like she'd be found innocent even if she was.

Do You Think Michael Vick Should Be Allowed To Go Back To Professional Football?
Fetching blurbs now... please stand byYes! Why
mulberry says:
His crime was terrible, but if he has paid for it then yes, he should be able to return to work. That's supposed to be the purpose of serving time.

Would the American Idol TV show survive without Simon Cowell?
Fetching blurbs now... please stand byYes! Why?
mulberry says:
I don't watch but I have seen enough on the internet to say that his nasty response to things is probably a fair part of the attraction of the show.

Do You Think Rihanna Should Give Chris Brown Another Chance And Go Back To Him?
Fetching blurbs now... please stand byYes! Why?
PrometheusIV says:
I think that unless you are Rhianna, or Chris Brown, and know all of the facts, that you should just allow her to make her own decisions. She's an adult, and knows that her decisions have consequences. Show your support of her decision either way, and if it "hits the fan" she'll learn from her mistake. Then, show your support again... She's a celebrity and has enough stress without the rest of us telling her how to live her life.

Do You Think Octomom aka Nadya Suleman Deserves The Attention She Is Getting?
Fetching blurbs now... please stand byYes! Why?
LindaJM says:
Hopefully her notoriety will help her earn enough money to be able to take care of the kids. She carries it off well and in general, I think people are too critical of her.

Mortira says:
She doesn't deserve the personal attention, but anything that ends up in the media that gets people talking about issues is a good thing. She's showing the entire world what irresponsible fertility medicine can do.

No! Why?
KimGiancaterino says:
I just feel sorry for the kids with their publicity-obsessed mother.

Do You Think Susan Boyle Should Get A Makeover During The Show Or Stay As Is?
Fetching blurbs now... please stand byGet A Makeover!
LindaJM says:
Absolutely... this is her moment, and she needs to make the best of it.
Posted May 06, 2009
spirituality says:
She should get a makeover. The hype will pass and then she needs to look her best. While she's challenged in that area, I'm sure she can look better than she does now.

Stay As Is!
mrscookie says:
Far too much emphasis is put on apperances and She has already altered her apperance drastically since she was on the TV.

Do You Believe Susan Boyle Has Never Been Kissed As She Stated?
Fetching blurbs now... please stand byYes!
spirituality says:
Sure, why not? Just because the media make it seem unnatural to be an adult virgin, I'm sure they exist. Most don't talk about it as easily as Susan does, but that's just convention.

No!
Do You Believe All The Hype Over Susan Boyle Is Too Much?
Fetching blurbs now... please stand byYes! Why?
No! Why?
LindaJM says:
Not at all. She's phenomenal and deserves to have good things happen in her life.
