I am so delighted that you are here for the charity concert to benefit Covenant House and the relentless work that they do to help homeless and at risk youth. Covenant House truly understands the meaning of the words "Love Will Keep Us Alive" and they live by them every day as they open arms and doors to youth in need.

They Created Passion
I often remember that The Eagles were one of the most influential bands in my youth. They created a passion for me, to want to learn to play the guitar. It would be many years before I realized that there were several guitar players in the band, I had not seen them live or on television - so I didn't realize it may be impossible for me to play the guitar like they did.The Eagles have journeyed a long way together, apart, and then back together again. What I remember the most is the journey that they have been on with me. Each new song seems to 'fit' right into my life at the moment I hear it. Even as the decades go by, I hear something familiar on the radio, just at the right time.

Going back in time...
It is about 1973 and The Eagles have only begun their 'Long Road out of Eden' (as they would later call it), and they release 'Desperado', which even 35 years later is still one of the most remembered tunes of the 70's. I cannot begin to list the number of other artists who have performed this song.I recall listening to this song at a local hang out in our small town. We were 15 and it was our first year in High School. We knew everything, we were certain of it, and we didn't understand why no one would listen to our wisdom.

Anyone who has had...
the experience of losing a love, trying to figure out what went wrong, and hoping that the lyrics of a song would somehow mend whatever was broken and make it better again knows...The Eagles Understood
It was the summer of 1974 when I found myself falling in love several times a week. Seems so silly now, looking back, I wanted every love song to 'mean' something. If I had only 'really' listened to the meaning of the song "The Best of My Love", and the warning about "cheap talking wine and wasting our time", I may have turned my life around much earlier.
What I did hear was the importance of sharing the best we can be with those that we love. I just didn't realize there were much better things yet to come and that with growing up also came opportunities to be a better me.
The Long Run - 1979
1979 The disco era...
is beginning to be very popular. During this era, most music needed to be popular in the dance halls, in order to be a success. 'The Long Run' was a great dance song. At the time,I felt it was a song about making relationships work no matter what other people were saying. 'If our love is a strong one', we can make it, and we will discover how strong our love is, in 'The Long Run.'I realized that people will not always agree with what you are doing, but, it is very important that YOU are true to yourself. That may be more difficult than other choices at times.

"This is not the center of the universe but, it's where I want to be."When I got the album home, about two months ago, I listened over and over again and then I started playing "Center of The Universe" in personal family photo slide shows.

however difficult it is to choose an all time favorite, if I needed to, this would be the one. To me this is about so many levels of friendship, love, loss, and being. No matter what happens today or tomorrow, we always have 'home', even when it doesn't feel like it.Deep in our heart is a compass that will lead us home. How Long: This is another dance tune...
Brand new to the "Long Road out of Eden" Album. The solos are amazing and a great example of how this band's guitar skills attracted me to a desire to play guitar. This is also a great example of the vocal harmonics that The Eagles are so adored for.This tune is a bit country rock. Well, perhaps the rock of yesterday is a lot like the country music of today? That could be the topic of an entirely different lens.

This song is an exceptional way for us to end our evening together. Enjoy one of the newest additions to the Eagles collection (on the "Long Road out of Eden" album).
This is a very personal collection of memories for The Eagles. A song about watching a dream fade away and perhaps about the Eagles discovering a new season in their work as artists, and in their lives, their loves, and a life time of experiences, that they have shared with us each step of the way through their songs.
We relate to music that speaks to us, about our challenges, our fears, our hopes, and our dreams. Sometimes it is years later when we realize the depth of the connection between us and the songs that seem to mark our journey.
"We are waiting in the weeds... knowing that the seasons are slowly changing," perhaps we will awaken to see that the new season is even more beautiful than the last?
