Bending heaven ain't no easy thang!

This lens is specifically to talk about "The Enslaved" the story behind the story, the story itself and where we've gone with it so far.

So first, let me tell you that the story currently is in the form of a novel. You can get it here . The novel is actually a novelization, meaning that it was adapted from the screenplay of the same name. The screenplay is currently undergoing revisions so that we can make "The Enslaved" the movie.

And, for those of you who would love to help support my company as we work to raise the $5,000,000- we need in working capital, just go to our Lens Cap Studio Store at Cafepress.com you can find our store here-Though I have to be honest to say that anyone wants to donate, I ain't saying no thank you.

And, for more info on Lens Cap Productions, or myself, just go to our site at Bravenet.com which you can find here . You'll know when you're there the minute you see that phrase in Latin. It's by the Roman poet Virgil and it translates into: "If I can't bend heaven, I'll stir hell".

That pretty much explains my attitude-No end of people have told me that I couldn't get the book done, and then it couldn't get published. I have managed to prove them all wrong on both points. Now, I'm working to get the film made-again.

I actaully worked on getting the film made in 2002, but I made a bad choice in brokers and long story short, eneded up with no deal, no money, no home and what at the moment felt like no hope.

Luckily, if you hold on long enough, life will always manage to surprise you. So, after years of working crap jobs, then not working and wondering if I was ever going to get my stuff together, I started writing the novelization, which I then posted chapter by chapter at FanStory.com and got an overall rating of 5+ satrs! (6 stars is the highest ranking you can currently get from them).

So, bouyed by my success at FanStory, I went to lulu.com and self published the book-which, I actually just finished the final edit on today (pats herself on the back).

And now, I'm working the next phase of my plan:to sell the book and develope enough of a fan base so that the "suits" in Hollywood will realize they need to let me get the film made.

So people, stay with me as over the next few days-and bear with me as I get the content set correctly. I'm going to tell you the story behind the story of "The Enslaved" as well as talk about the story itself-I might even discuss a few of the challenges facing me as a Welfare Mogul on the rise.

Things we say in other places.

Because I just can't stop talking about my work.

These are just a few other places where I promote my project and the people involved.

The Story on the story

On how it started, what it now is and what its going to be

"In the beginning,
we were in darkness."

What if from the day you were able to put more than two words together, you were raised to believe that you and your people were Gods?

"Cursed be the blind in heart."

That you, by virtue of your birth would not only become one of the Gods, but THE God, Highest of the highest, ruler of all?

"But, the Gods of Light had
mercy on us, and did save us
from ourselves."

But, what if, along with your studies, you were a spoiled and pampered child. Doted on by your father, sheltered from the harsh realities of what it truly means to lead. So that you, as your father lay dying, decided you weren't really sure if you wanted to be an all-powerful God?

"That we might
dwell in their light,
forever."

And,what if, after reluctantly taking the position, on your first day as leader, the most respected man among your people-Your father's oldest friend. The man who taught you what it meant to BE a God, stood up before you and your people and told you, you were NOT Gods?

"It is through the mercy of our
Gods that we no longer need to fear
our own evil."

I first got what later became the idea behind "The Enslaved" from a simple saying: How fallen are the mighty". I was pregnant with my youngest at the time and had begun to work on what was first a short story. About a young woman recounting the situation that changed the lives of her people forever.

Short story became a novella that didn't seem to work until I turned it into a stage play. From there, I got a book on how to write screenplays and following the directions in the book adapted the play into a film script.

By then, I'd had my youngest, who's father had run off in search of a less "encumbered future while I was stuck raising two boys with no money.

As a dare to myself, I sent the script to the American film Institute, Thinking there was no way I'd get in.

I got in. Despite the fact that I was competing to fill one of only 3o slots for writers that year out of 3,000 applicants from all over the globe, I got in.

"The Enslaved" was all I had going for me at the time.

That was in 1991. I've done a lot since then. I've succeeded and failed and learned no end of lessons along the way. Chief among them: never let anyone take your dream from you.

This is my dream.

B2M Review: The Enslaved

Because we felt a simple "blurb" won't do

Book Review:
"The author Elaine Haygood has created an innovative tale that explores Padirian gods and their fight for power in the novel The Enslaved."
"The death of Z'Mad on the planet Padira begins the unraveling of the council. Z'han the daughter of Z'Mad the All - Father takes over her father's position and becomes Z'han the All - Mother."
"Oscal the Elder informs the council members that they have been living a lie in perpetuating that they are gods and rulers over the Padirian planet. Z'han is uncertain on how to handle this newfound information and because of her doubt and reluctance causes a revolt of the council."
"Hidden agendas, murder and mystery surround everyone as Z'han is forced to realize for the first time what it truly means to be Azkil. She must make some difficult choices in order to save herself and others."
"Readers who enjoy stories of mythology and science fiction should find this novel interesting."

Visual: The Thiran Language

In case you'd like to know what this Thiran "tongue" looks like.

The word you are looking at is "En T'kir" which simply means "The Enslaved". Interesting how that is also the tile of the film?

Anyhoo, the inspiration for the visual representation for the Thiran language comes from several sources, chief among them Arabic, and the flowing, curvilinear abstracts of natural forms found in Celtic art.

The actual form that the language takes in regards to the way that a word is ordered is of course inspired by Asian writing where a word is written from top to bottom.

A sentence in Thiran would be read from top to bottom with the first word of the sentence being larger than the olthers just as the first letter of a Thiran word is larger than the others.

As for vowels, there are only 4 in Thiran: A E I &O. There is no U or Y in the Thiran alphabet. And vowels are denoted by dots stacked on top of each other (1 for A, 2 for E etc,). They fall to the right on left of the letter that follows or precedes them depending on whether there is a long or short sound of the vowel in a word. (Left for the long sound, right for the short)

And, that little dash dohicky that sits off to the right acts the same way an apostrophe would in English, it denotes where the syllabic break in a work happens (IE: T'kir, D'net, Z'han)

The promunciation is in many ways akin to Arabic and Hebrew, but without the gutteral qualities of same.

Book Preview: the Prologue Part1

Just a little something from the book to whet your appetite

Pronunciation Key

Both the languages of the Thir, who rule Padir and the Padira are based on an ancient version of what can only be described as High Thiran. And though it to many resembles Arabic, or some other Middle Eastern tongue in its form, Thiran is spoken without any guttural intonations.

Many Thiran words begin as one or two consonants, followed by an apostrophe ('). The pronunciation is always the "I" sound as in "sit". This is most apparent in Names like "K'lon". Should the apostrophe follow a vowel however, the rule changes and it then indicates the emphasis should be placed on the second syllable. The name "Pa'ar" (pronounced Pay-ar) is a prime example of this.

For words whose second syllable is two or more consonants with no vowels, the second syllable is always pronounced "EE" as in the word "seed". For words possessing a second syllable consisting of only one consonant, the pronunciation is of the soft u sound as in the word "dull".

A-If an "A" is at the beginning of a word, it carries the flat a sound as in "cat". Examples of this would be names such as "Agna" and "Adva". If it follows another letter, whether first syllable or letter it contains the softer a sound as in "ball" or "tall". As in "R'tal" the only known exception to this rule is the name Pa'ar.

"Ir" is pronounced as an elongated eer sound as in "Thir".

Prologue:

The Past: 35,000 years ago:

"In the beginning, we were in darkness%u2026."

~Padiran Litany Of Faith

"Will the sun never rise on this accursed planet?"
Ch'thn had been on the surface of Padir for less than a full day and had decided he'd never learn to love it.
"It's always darkest before the dawn Ch'thn. Besides, I doubt this place will look any better in the daylight."
Ch'thn stopped his pacing and looked closely at the serene young woman who'd addressed him. N'ria was indeed a marvel of their people: A beautiful child. Blessed with skill, knowledge and wisdom far beyond
her scant 100 years. She sat calmly. Sampling various types of the native fruits their scanners had determined were safe to eat as the other Council members milled about nervously. Their attention continuously shifting from Ch'thn and N'ria, to the bedraggled group of Padiran leaders who stood huddled together at a respectful and safe distance from these newcomers.

Enslaved Prologue: Part2

Becuase this thing is just too big for one module to handle.

It was she who managed to get them this far. Ch'thn had little doubt this young Azkil's scheme would work. He just wished they'd found a more pleasant place in which to carry it out.
N'ria for her part agreed with Ch'thn. Padir was an awful place, an after thought of the gods on the tail end of the galaxy. Two main continents consisting of myriad little "keeps" and regions ravaged by the greed of petty warlords and tyrant kings. What the constant warring didn't destroy on this world, famine and disease finished off. And then, there were the storms.
N'ria had never in her life seen storms such as they had here: Gale force winds moving at velocities unheard of on any world she'd known. Pounding rain and enough electrostatic force to level a large city-No wonder the Padira had taken to living in caves and cliff sides.
Yes, Padir was an awful place, but with a little help and guidance it could be viable-even lovely. Providing everyone was willing to go along with the plan.
"Ch'thn, if there were anywhere else we could go. We would. We need time Ch'thn to repair the ship, replenish our resources and come up with a feasible plan for how to get home and what to do once we're there."
Ch'thn studied N'ria carefully as well as the other council members. It was plain to see that they were
all in agreement. If only he could silence the little voice of caution in his soul.
"I have your word N'ria, that as soon as all is in readiness we will depart this place?"
N'ria kept her face neutral as she said a quick, silent prayer of thanks.
"You have my word."
Satisfied, Ch'thn switched on his translator and turned and addressed the pitiful band of what passed for leadership on Padir.
"Gather all your people and tell them to rejoice. For we have indeed come to deliver them out of darkness."
As Ch'thn spoke, the sun rose and as the light struck his armored space suit, it appeared to glow with a reflected light that nearly blinded the Padira.
To the warlord Mirje and the rag tag assemblage of warriors, priests, nobles and slaves, this was indeed the dawning of a new day. Watching the Padira as they dropped to their knees in worship of their new Gods, N'ria realized that Ch'thn could sooner rather than later pose a threat to all her plans. A threat she would have to neutralize.

A little something to help you visualize

This is where you can see our animatics for the film. An animatic is basically just the storyboards for a film put together like a short film to give people an idea of the style and tone of the film itself-sort of like seeing the movie before the movie gets made.

We will also be listing interviews and other things we think might be of interest.
