Meet Me At The Getaway Pub

Akron, Ohio -- If you are looking for a quaint little watering hole that serves burgers, fries, and a tall cold one, stop by The Getaway Pub. You can find this little gem in the heart of Merriman Valley.

If you are into sports, some of the bar's TV sets are set to sports stations. If you are into controversy, you can watch the news on the other side of the bar. Do you like to throw darts or play pool? There is a dart board and pool tables to hone your skills. But the biggest draw at The Getaway Pub is the music. Live bands weekly, with a Musicians Open Jam every Wednesday Night.

Musicians Night Out 

This is a small taste of what Wednesday nights are like at The Getaway Pub. Musicians and vocalists are invited to come down to the pub, and play with Charlie's Poor Mans Band.

April Begins With A Traffic Jam 

The Getaway Pub Musicians Open Jam Night

June 3, 2009 -- Big Jam Tonight: Seems that Charlie of The Poor Boys has a bad knee, and is going in for surgery next Friday. That means tonight Charlie will be handing the Open Jam Torch to a new player.

The Jam does not stop here, it is another beginning. The Poor Boys will be in the house, Chef Tray has a great BBQ Rib Special. The recorder will be on, and The Picture Lady will be in the house.

Wednesday Night is the Muscians' Jam Night with Charlie's Poor Man Band. This is the time when local musicians can bring their instrument and sing, play, make music, and have a good time. No. This is not karaoke. This is live music. Below are some of the musicians and a bit about the pub.

It began when four musicians decided to get together on Wednesday nights for a free open jam session with other musicians. Within five weeks more than twenty musicians were in the house, each taking turns on vocals and instruments. Learning new songs, playing old songs, working with new songs, and rocking down the house. The Getaway Pub lights up. Charlie's Poor Man Band and the Wednesday Night Jam is all about good music and good times. How many musicians will show up next week? Who will sing? Who will play?
