Introduction to Navarone

The Guns of Navarone was written by Alistair MacLean and published in 1957. It is centered around a fictional island named Navarone. On the island is an extremely well defended German fortress. The Allied forces are determined to bring the fortress down. On the top of the fortress stand two enormous guns, stopping Allied naval progress through the Aegean to rescue 1200 Allied troops on a nearby island. The Allied forces choose an Elite team of 5 men to infiltrate the fortress.
