The Stray Cats Rock

Ranked #10,518 in Music, #286,424 overall

Back in the 1980's The Stray Cats rocked with songs like Rock This Town, Stray Cat Strut and Sexy & 17. I loved the great rockabilly sound and the awesome MTV videos they produced. Today all three members of the group still preform. Brian Setzer launched a solo career in the 1990's with Brian Setzer Orchestra. Slim Jim Phantom and Lee Rocker have also had some solo projects. However they will always rock the house as The Stary Cats in my book!

When the Stray Cats stormed into the British charts at the start of the eighties it was the start of a love affair which still tugs at my heart today. We had Matchbox and Shakin' Stevens doing well and would soon have the added attractions of the fabulous Jets and the Polecats clawing at the charts. The Stray Cats brought with them a bad boy image which made them more acceptable in an era which was still in the clutches of punk and bands like the Stranglers and the Clash. A lot of the purists have little good to say about them but I'm sure they'd be happy to see a band of their ilk in the charts now!

One of the best live shows I've ever seen. Early 80's, in a small, intimate club(bar) close enough to the stage to actually touch the Cat's. (had that been appropriate)
    Man-o-man what a show...

LOL - I remember seeing the Stray Cats as a free concert through WMMS! You are on a roll lately. (I think I still have the t-shirt too, sleeveless, of course!) Great job here.
