Many experience the horror of stretch marks after gaining weight or going through a pregnancy.

Stretch marks are never pleasant, and they will remain long after weight has been lost or a baby has been born. When they are new, they are often bright pink or red, and then fade away to a whitish color that blends with the skin color, though not completely.

Remove Stretch Marks

Yes, they do bother me...

Stretch marks can become more apparent when someone tans, as they will not tan like the rest of the skin. Those who live with them feel very self-conscious and wonder if there is anything they can do to remove stretch marks from their body.

You won't have to worry about how to remove stretch marks if you can learn to avoid them. This is not always possible, but there are some things that can help. People usually don't notice weight gain fast enough to stop them from forming, but someone who is expecting a child has notice. There are some who say a simple lotion applied to the stomach each day can help avoid the skin from stretching too quickly. The lotion keeps the skin supple and it may stretch without the marks. Cocoa butter lotion is often recommended, but remember, it won't work for everyone. It certainly is worth a shot though.

There are some creams that claim to help remove stretch marks. Most of them can help them fade, but they probably won't be able to remove them completely. The skin that has been stretched is scarred in a way, and most scars can not be removed without surgery. Even then, they may not completely disappear. There are some who offer surgery to remove stretch marks, but you may want to ask about expected results before you go in so you know what to expect and so that you won't be totally disappointed.

Though it might not be possible to completely remove stretch marks, or to avoid them to begin with, the good news is that they usually happen in areas that are often covered by clothing. This won't help someone who wants to wear a bikini, but for most day to day meetings with others, no one will really know they are there. They are often a matter of self-esteem, but there are certainly worse problems a person could have. Some see them as a badge of honor after having children, but most want to be rid of them.

Get Rid of Acne Scars

Couldn't leave this one out...

Nothing is worse than a face full of zits. This is why so many of us struggle to fight back acne pimples as best we can. We commonly adhere to daily regimes of cleansing, toning and applying acne creams and gels. Anything that will suppress the burden known as zits. But, what about the numerous blemishes that we've already tangled with? Sure, it's great to prevent new breakouts from forming, but some past breakouts may have left nasty aftermath behind. I'm referring to scars and red spots. How does one get rid of acne scars for good? Well, don't fret! It can be done.

As anyone who's ever had a pimple knows, acne can leave behind nasty scars. Therefore it's your job to prevent acne scars from forming. However, you might already have a few from past breakouts. This is where treatments such as microderm abrasion come in. This popular cosmetic procedure can seriously reduce and get rid of acne scars. It basically works as a rapid exfoliator. Sand particles are sprayed onto small areas of the face with a nifty little device. This sloughs away dead skin cells and allows the fresh epidermis to surface. This process will dramatically reduce signs of scarring after several treatments. But that's not what makes it so phenomenal. Unlike chemical peels, microderm abrasion will not leave your face bright red and sensitive. You can literally leave just as you came in. Well, except for the fact that your mug will be a bit smoother and more radiant than ever before. Even those who lack acne scars can benefit from this procedure.

There are several ways to get rid of acne scars, but your best bet is prevention. This is not only the cheapest route, but it's also the key to great skin. One way you can prevent future breakouts and not be burdened with the process of getting rid of acne scars is through a good skin care regimen and a healthy diet. Know your skin type and treat it accordingly. If you suffer from severe breakouts and acne blemishes, then you should visit a dermatologist right away. In addition to cleansing and applying the right treatments morning and night, you should maintain a healthy diet with foods high in nutrients, but low in fat, sodium and sugar. These can all wreak havoc on your complexion. Especially sugar! Clear skin equals a new way of life.

Forgot to mention...

Avoid skin allergies!

Sometimes, a skin allergy is nothing to worry about. Most skin allergies are minor flareups that can safely be ignored. Sometimes they are provoked by changes in the weather, a certain food, or even a sudden change in mood. Nonetheless, a serious skin allergy can be a real problem. One of my best friends used to break into hives unexpectedly. I never found out what it was - I think his doctors didn't know. Nonetheless, it was very real and very scary. His skin would swell up and become covered with large, blotchy patches. He would get itchy and uncomfortable, and sometimes start wheezing.

He tried a lot of different things for his skin allergy. One of the best standbys used was Benadryl. He was an occasional allergy sufferer, so he didn't need to take antihistamines all the time. Nonetheless, when he would have an allergy skin flare up or some other type of reaction, he could always take a couple of them right away to ease the suffering a little bit. Nonetheless, it didn't really do enough for him. It helped it go away quicker, but it still could get pretty bad before it got better.

Sometimes he would use a skin allergy cream to treat it. Eczema allergies ran in his family, so many of his relatives had Eucerin or some other kind of cream that they would use during the winter months. He tried rubbing the stuff on his skin One time when he flared up, and was surprised to see it helping. Apparently, cortisone cream is very good stuff. It is excellent for treating skin inflammations of all sorts, and skin allergies are no exception.

Even so, he skin allergy attacks continued. As a matter of fact, when he went to college, the flareups got worse. He would be overcome by hives when studying or sometimes even right before going into a big test. This gave him the first clue he had to the true origin of his skin flare-ups.

It turns out that he wasn't suffering from a skin allergy at all. Instead, he was suffering from stress induced psychosomatic skin reactions. He would get so upset that his body would create symptoms. It is not as uncommon as you would think, but it can't really be effectively treated by medicines. They can help, but they can't cure it. Instead, he started going to see a counselor, and taking antianxiety medication. That helped him clear it up finally.

What's the point to this story - well...... I tend to use products that are very "skin friendly"- that's all.
