Family Fun With Thomas & Friends

Ranked #17,706 in Hobbies, Games & Toys, #289,461 overall

My son has been a big Thomas & Friends fan for years and we have spent countless hours building sets and acting out stories.

Thomas and Friends train sets are a great activity for young children as not only does it encourage imaginative play but there are many important skill sets that can be taught through playing with Thomas. Plus it is just something fun and relaxing that you can do together.

Learning colors, shapes, numbers, letters, and small motor skills are just a few of the important benefits your child can receive from playing with Thomas the Tank Engine and friends.

What I think...

As a mom, I think Thomas & Friends are great toys because they help children learn important lessons. They are great hands-on activities that help kids learn how to put things together and build. They are also great for imaginative play. Kids can act out the stories they read in the Thomas books or make up new stories for even more fun.

Need more reasons to love Thomas and Friends?

1. Self-directed play -- while there are many existing Thomas story lines there are also as many ways to play with Thomas and Friends as there are playtimes
2. Role play -- Trying on different roles is one way children learn and grown and develop as individuals. There are many different characters involved with many different personalities, skills, strengths and weaknesses
3. Good messages -- Whether you watch or read Thomas stories they are always filled with good messages for children about growing up and being kind to others
4. Imagination -- Every day a new design for the train set and every day a new story to dream up
5. Small motor skills -- While most of the parts are made to be handled by little fingers working to build the train set -- and then play with it -- is a great way for any child to develop those small motor skills so essential to writing
6. Hand-eye coordination -- Things need to be lined up, tracks need to be followed...
7. Reasoning -- Building an original train design takes time and planning
