Tips And Tricks For Being Homeless
Ranked #79,927 in Culture & Society, #1,642,491 overall
Who Can Be Homeless
Look around millions of people are laid off and big wheel companies and business are cutting back, claiming bankruptcy, nothing is a sure thing when it come to work.
There is no real security in any type of employment. Ask yourself this question? If no one can replace you easily on your job. How hard will it be for you to get the same job?
With that being said, the way things are going people are doing extra to secure there jobs. Some people are taking pay cuts. Some employers are letting people go and the employees are working extra hours just to make up for the employee's that got laid off for fear they will get laid off.
Their is a million different ways to become homeless Medically, mentally, bad relationships, marriage you name it. So whatever you do don't think you are different from anyone else. It's not just single people down on their luck. More and more families are becoming homeless all over the United States.
If Ever Your Homeless
Things You Do Things You Don't Do
2) Always think ahead! Only keep what you can carry in a duffel bag. Always hide supplies that make you look homeless. Never give the appearance that your homeless. You will be harassed by cop's,store owners, and the general public.
3) I can't express this enough. Stay clean! Carry a wash rag with you every where you go. Deodorant is a big plus. Anti-bacterial soap is great if you have no water. A lot of public bathrooms have it. Steal it if you absolutely have to. As a last resort! Drink lots of water and stay away from unions and garlic. Do not ask for work if you smell like alcohol.
4) Never admit your homeless to anyone. Specially your friends! Because it puts them in a spot. Then they will avoid you! If you do run into any friends be as positive as you can ask them if they know of any work?
5) Try to find a location that is secluded so you can build a fire without drawling any attention. Some place you can stay for awhile. Do not leave any trash laying around. You never know who might walk up on you. Owners of property will frown on that! You have a fighting chance if its clean where your staying. Remember you don't want the cops to be called. Be friendly even if there not at least they won't call the cops and probably let you stay for that night.
6) Be quick to think if anyone questions you. Like a question like why do you carry that bag all the time. Say something like! Oh I'm going to work out at a friends house.
7) How to get money in your pocket? Out side laundry mats! Look in the washers and driers,Telephone booths take toilet paper or napkin put in coin return as far as your finger can reach. Wait a few days then go pull the paper out.
8) Gas pumps! If you see a elderly person getting ready to pump gas offer to do it for them. Act like a good Samaritan! Don't be pushy if they say no. Just say OK and walk away. A lot of the times they will offer a dollar or change. Do not hag at the pumps or the store to long.
9) Get your mind set that everything and everybody is money. There is opportunity everywhere you look. Get to know the people in the convent stores offer to clean and mop the floor or clean the bathroom. For $5 most all the stores have the cashier do that and they really don't want to. Again don't admit your homeless. Just say you need to make extra money for car repairs.
10) Bar parking lots look on the ground all around the edge of the parking lot and in any bushes. Also look in cig. packs I found $150 one time $10 a few singles.

- I could not believe how horrible the grammar in the article was. First of all, I think that there were at least a dozen sentence fragments. Also, this author clearly doesn't know the difference between "your" and "you're," which is something most children learn in grade school. Throughout this nightmare of a piece, the punctuation was mess. The most incredulous mistake is when "union" when used in place of "onion."
These are just a small fraction of the mistakes. It's really too bad that this person had so little respect for the reader that they couldn't take a moment to write this article properly, or at the very least have a librarian look it over.

- How terribly insensitive you are. Not every person has been fortunate enough to have had a proper education or are naturally deficient in that capacity. You have nothing better to do than read useful blogs that help the homeless get through everyday hardships? You should be ashamed of yourself and keep your nasty criticism to yourself.

- Gee, maybe she was saving her money for the rent so that she could keep a place to stay instead of buying a laptop she could only power up at a visitor center. Maybe she was at the library-which closes at certain hours-EFFIN DUH-and was hell bent on getting this advice out there for at least one person...and had to cram the information in there before her half hour of free time was up, 10 minutes to get in line at the soup kitchen, before missing her foodstamp appointment..,et cetera...I'll gladly go back to the forest any day of the week rather than lick the boots of people like you, alone in the frigid landscape of your mind. Suck my run on sentences!

- I think it's the photos and that specific sentence I quoted. While the photos are interesting, I'd suggest looking for some different ones.
Sorry if I sounded snappish - it still strikes a nerve, even after twenty years. So many people become homeless and so many other people try to feel better about it by insisting that they're all addicts that bring it on themselves.
You've put a lot of good ideas together here and it's shaping up nicely.

- I loved your lens and you where the one that inspired me to write my story. Then after I wrote my story. I created the tips and tricks lens. Which I thought of in the spare of the moment. I figured I could keep adding to the tips and tricks as I remember the things I did to make money. My intentions was not to say homeless people are drunks or lazy. Was it the signs or the pictures? Because the content doesn't at all say anything about homeless people all being drunks. I just was implying that don't judge homeless people just because of a few that might be drunks. And even if they are dont judge them because they may find them selves in the same situation or worse. Yes there are many ways you can be homeless and I think I expressed that.

- "Its not just drunks and drug addicts any more." - It never has been just drunks and drug addicts.
People people have become homeless due to loss of job, mental or physical illness or disability, physical or sexual abuse, spousal economic abuse, and other such reasons probably about as long as the concept of money and society has existed.
People need each other and without a strong familial and societal support structure anyone can become homeless. The "new" homeless aren't any different than the "old" homeless, there are just more of them now.
Watch and see, many of them will fall prey to addiction after they are beaten down and destroyed by living a homeless life. While addiction can cause homelessness, I believe that equally often, homelessness can cause addiction. Assault after assault, humiliation after humiliation, and such misery - it's beyond anyone's ability to rationally cope with. I developed PTSD, others develop addictions - no one escapes homelessness unscathed.

- Good advice for homeless people but I think using the F word was unnecessary.
