Tips On Making Your Child Ready For Kindergarten

A kindergarten school is the first school that your child will enter.

This precious time will come faster than you can imagine! One day he is little bundle of joy in your hand and in the next he is ready with his bags and books to go to a school! Though no one will expect him to know all social etiquettes and other things as a kindergarten student, still there are some things that the school will expect him or her to know. So before you send your child to the nearest kindergarten school, keep in mind the following tips so that you can say your child is ready for his or her kindergarten school.

* Reading has a great impact on your child. Whether he reads his favorite story to you or you tell him, on repeated reading he will learn to associate things with letters. Words will gradually become clear to him.

* Teach him alphabets in exciting ways. Skipping a letter for him to comprehend it or asking him to relate an object with a letter, are good techniques for practicing.

* 'Name that thing' is one popular practice at home. It ensures that your child is able to associate things with their names.

* Counting numbers can be fun, starting from chocolates to counting cars or buses on road to school.

* Teach him to do little things like drinking water from a cup by himself or telling his need to use the bathroom. Also let him join kids' games in the park so that he learns to get along with other children.

As you prepare your child for his new school, do not hurry or force the child. Let him develop according to his speed. Although the approximate age for joining a school is 4yrs, you can find you child to be not so developed even at the age of five. In such cases, support him and take special care of him and let him learn in his own time. The school authorities and the local system, pediatricians and care-givers can best guide you for the right time for you child to join school.
