Dalai Lama said - The Purpose Of Life Is To Be Happy!
I cannot agree more, but the road to happiness is not coming without a struggle, a conscious effort, a willing to make things happen.

Happiness in not a gift, or talent, or inheritance, we cannot buy it, we need to diligently and intelligently work toward it! Just being materialistic is not going to automatically produce happiness.
Think about Hollywood celebrities, they have financial success, they can buy almost everything they want, but you think that all of them are happy? NO!

I collected some celebrities and open minded thinkers' quotes about happiness in my hope that this helps to find ourselves, help to create a happy mindset, and we collectively may come out with the perfect definition.
I'll share with you my list of quotes.

I know that happiness can have a different meaning from each of us, but should be some common ground of wisdom in our struggle to get from A to B.

In recent studies, brain scans show that the areas of the brain linked to positive emotions light up in Buddhists. All that universal love, kindness and compassion really seems to work.

Generally speaking. if you are happy, you will show revved up activity in the left pre-frontal cortex. This is the area of the brain associated with happiness, joy and enthusiasm.

Let's see what happens when you reach out and draw others into your fold, with other words, practice exclusivity; not exclusivity

What Makes People Happy!

According with Wikipedia - Happiness is a state of mind or feeling such as contentment, satisfaction, pleasure, or joy

But my happiness cannot always be your happiness! I think first and foremost you must know yourself!

Lucille Ball once said:

It's a helluva start, being able to recognize what makes you happy.

Some will say:

Happiness is to be wealthy, to be able to buy that you want, when you want OR

A healthy body is the supreme happiness for me OR

My children and/or grandchildren are my happiness OR

The day by day little gestures in life make me very happy OR

My husband, my other half makes my happiness OR

Sports are my life, they make my happiness OR

Good luck in life makes my happiness OR

Vacations and traveling make my happiness OR

Partying every day of my life makes my happiness

Well, all of them are right as people have a variety of philosophical, biological, religious, and psychological approaches that define their happiness.

The source of happiness can have so many angles, this brings me to say exactly what Lucille said, we must start finding out what makes us happy.

Positive psychology researchers describe happiness as consisting of positive emotions and positive activities, and they created a hierarchy of three kinds of happiness:

Pleasure, Engagement, and Meaning.

Yes, I really believe that pleasure, engagement and meaning can make people happy!

The Picture Of The Lens

John and I loved to go in Manhattan NY and spent a day, just 30 min. drive from our home.

One day we were there, I wanted to buy something, and told John to wait for me. Usually he didn't have the patience to stay in stores, but he always waited for me outside without to complain about me doing shopping.
It was a crowd store, I probably spent around 45 min. When I got out with a guilty feelling for being late, I saw John with a big smile on his face talking with a strange little man, he presented his wife and said in a hurry, Michey, please can you take a picture?
I did a picture to both of them, and the little man made a small bow and left us.

I asked: John who was that strange little man that looked like Dalai Lama?

John: Sweetie, he was Dalai Lama!

It was an incredible moment, John was so happy. The entire day he told me the story, over and over again, how waiting for me, he recognized DL, approached him very politely and they started speaking with each other, how remarkable person he was, and how gracious was the entire chat. In a way he was embarrassed that I wasn't coming, and happy that he had a perfect pretext for a longer chat with the man he respected so much.

I thought this picture can make
"The picture of the lens", and share with you the little story, it was a happy day for John.

Quotes About Happiness - Part II

Action may not always bring happiness, but there is no happiness without action.

By Benjamin Disraeli

Between stimulus and response is a space. In this space lies our freedom to choose our response. In these choices lie our growth and our happiness.

By Millie Elstad

We are never so happy or unhappy as we think.

By Francois duc la Rochefoucauld

If you are going through hell, keep going.

By Sir Winston Churchill

Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.

By Mahatma Gandhi

Don't wait. The time will never be just right.

By Napoleon Hill

Michey says:

I listen to my heart and conscience first.
My husband was sick for 6 years and 7 months, I almost destroyed my life trying to help him.
Now I work very hard to put my life on track but I have no regrets, I think I did the right thing for him, I can look in a mirror and smile.

The materialistic side is more powerful for me

I'm going to bookmark this lens and come back - now that the weather is getting grey and cruel (I know, I shouldn't complain - I live in North Carolina!) I can get gloomy if I don't keep moving. Have to remember to be thankful. "Every day above ground is a good day." Thanks for this, and congrats on angel status! You'll be great.

Yes, Joan is right, it is up to us to take decisions, good or bed.
I can see daily in my Affiliate marketing business.
It is not as much about people don't have knowledge, it is more about staying tall and taking action

Thanks Nancy, I'll create a module in which I'll collect quotes from my reader, I'll publish Joan's as well plus some proverbs I like.

Yes, I met him without to know that was him until after he left us. I was late and John convinced him to wait as the camera was with me, and when I finally appared, John said in a hurry: "let me introduce my wife, Michey please can you take a picture...", I did and he left. He looked to me as DL, (see my questio), but only when I asked John had time to reveal the identity. It was a fun moment.
