Tom Cruise Bluray

Tom Cruise - love him or hate him, he has certainly left his mark on the Hollywood and the film industry.
Dissed by film critics, vilified by press for his ties with Scientology, he continues to delight audiences with his films, and continues to earn enough money to be able to laugh at all the critics and "reporters" - who do more preaching than reporting. His first mega hit was the Top Gun - where he played a cocky fighter pilot, in love with his instructor, played by Kelly McGillis. The awesome footage of aerial dogfighting and superb soundtrack made Top Gun a mega hit, and Tom Cruise a superstar. Since then he has starred in such hits as Mission Impossible, Jerry Maguire, Days of Thunder, the Rain Man, Interview with the Vampire, and The Last Samurai. While he has earned his fame starring in action movies, he has also played in comedies, like Risky Business, and in psychological dramas, like the Eyes Wide Shut. Cruise continues to delight his fans, and has sufficient resources to be independent of the Hollywood power brokers. Good for him!

You can now watch Tom Cruise not only on blu ray. Streaming movies online lets you rent or buy his films directly from Amazon.com.All you need is to hook up your TV to the Internet. Newer TVs should have that capability built in. For everyone else, there is Amazon's Roku XDS Streaming Player which lets you stream movies from Amazon, Netflix and many other places. It's similar to a cable box, but you own it and it lets your TV reach out and get stuff from the Internet. You do need an internet connection too.

I recently saw Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol with Tom - he looked better than ever. I guess guys do look better with age.

War of the Worlds [Blu-ray]

War of the Worlds [Blu-ray]

Despite super effects, a huge budget, and the cinematic pedigree of alien-happy Steven Spielberg, this take on H.G. Wells's novel is basically a horror film packaged as a sci-fi thrill ride. Instead of a mad slasher, however, Spielberg (along with writers Josh Friedman & David Koepp) utilizes aliens hell-bent on quickly destroying humanity, and the terrifying results that prey upon adult fears, especially in the post-9/11 world. The realistic results could be a new genre, the grim popcorn th...0 points

Eyes Wide Shut [Blu-ray]

Stanley Kubrick's daring last film is a bracing psychosexual journey, a riveting suspense tale and a career milestone for stars Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman. Cruise plays a doctor who plunges into an erotic foray that threatens his marriage - and may ensnare him in a murder mystery - after his wife's (Kidman) admission of sexual longings. As the story sweeps from doubt and fear to self-discovery and reconciliation, Kubrick orchestrates it with masterful flourishes. Graceful t...0 points

The Firm [Blu-ray]

The Firm [Blu-ray]

This first film adaptation of a John Grisham novel is a crackerjack popcorn movie that satisfies even though it radically changes the last half of the book. The novel's dynamic setup is intact: Mitch McDeere, a hot law graduate (a well-suited Tom Cruise), finds a dream job in a luxurious Memphis law firm. His superiors (Gene Hackman, Hal Holbrook) provide Mitch and his young wife, Abby (Jeanne Tripplehorn), with a house and plenty of money in exchange for lots of work, and maybe something more. Rain Man [Blu-ray]

Rain Man [Blu-ray]

Rain Man is the kind of touching drama that Oscars are made for--and, sure enough, the film took Academy honors for best picture, director, screenplay, and actor (Dustin Hoffman) in 1988. Hoffman plays Raymond, an autistic savant whose late father has left him $3 million in a trust. This gets the attention of his materialistic younger brother, a hot-shot LA car dealer named Charlie (Tom Cruise) who wasn't even aware of Raymond's existence until he read his estranged father's will. Born on the Fourth of July [Blu-ray]

The second film in Oliver Stone's Vietnam trilogy moves from the brutality of war in Platoon to its equally traumatic aftermath. Based on the memoir of combat veteran Ron Kovic, the film stars Tom Cruise as Kovic, whose gunshot wound in Vietnam left him paralyzed from the chest down. He is deeply embittered by neglect in a veteran's hospital and by the shattering of his patriotic idealism because of the horror and futility of the Vietnam conflict. While painfully and awkwardly adjusting to his disability...0 points
