Why You Should Use A Trellis On Tomato Plants

Tomato plants are one of the easiest plants to grow. They can be grown anywhere, even upside down.

Staking your tomato plants is a must to help support the big, beautiful tomatoes. Your plants will thrive and will produce bigger, juicy tomatoes. Using a trellis to stake your tomatoes is an attractive way to help your plants grow and uses less space.

How To Use A Trellis

A tomato trellis can take many forms from a singular stake to grids to spirals, from simple to elaborate.

Space out the tomato plants by at least 4 inches

Secure trellis in ground and use ties to attach plants

As plants grow, make sure stems are secured to the trellis

  • Keith & Carole Schmidt May 31, 2010 @ 4:43 pm | delete
Yes! We have designed and built our own that we would like to share with you. It's practically rust proof and we've been using ours for 10 years!! Would you like to see it? We call it the ULTIMATE Trellis because you can use it for all vining veggies, not just tomatoes.

I love gardening and growing my own tomatoes, there is nothing better than a home grown organic tomato right off the vine.
