TOOLS AND IDEAS FOR PAINTING AND DECORATING
ARE YOU ONE OF THOSE WHO LIKES TO MAKE IT A FAMILY EFFORT?
ARE YOU TIRED OF HAVING SOMETHING THAT LOOKS LIKE WHAT EVERYONE ELSE HAS?
IF YOU ANSWERED YES TO ANY OF THE QUESTIONS ABOVE, THEN KEEP READING.....
WHO SAID YOU NEED A PAINT BRUSH TO PAINT A ROOM?
Who said you need to use a brush to paint a room?Well in most cases its not a bad idea! But its not always neccesary. I often use my kitchen utensils! No I am not kidding :)
When painting for a company I will use a roller and a brush because it is proven that this method is the best along with spraying. But every now and then I end up with a customer who just wants to be different!
One way to be different is to paint with everything that you would not normaly paint with. This way you get an effect that is your own. get the kids involved. It teaches them to be creative amongst other things :)
You may have heard of rag rolling? Rolling a rag onto a wall in order to get a patern. Well I do that too, But I use cleaning rags,Hairbruches,Kitchen utensils,Any utensils.
HOW TO HAVE FUN PAINTING A WALL
The picture here is a paint by numbers murial. I think its cool, But I will add my own wall later!I had a dark basement and I decided that I wanted to lighten things up a bit! So here is what I did:
1) Stone walls: Primed and plastered. Used some kitchen utensils on the plaster for a personal signature :) (keeping it relatively flat)
2) I painted the wall an off white colour
3) I asked my boys 5 & 8 yrs to help me paint! They were all excited because painting a whole big wall was a lot more fun than just painting on paper :)
4) I then asked my boys to draw big circles/Squares and triangle shapes on the wall!
5) I already have a bag of old kitchen utensils and other junk. I asked them to pick there painting tools :-)
Overall we used 5 different colours on each shape. Even mixed a couple of those too. We used a green dish scruber, half of one of my old tshirts,A soft hairbrush,A paterned cloth,Some thumb prints and a fork (eatingfork) Ruben my youngest was all for the full body print effect and by the time we had finnished, He might as well have went for it! :-)
The point with all this is: They did it. They had fun doing it, Its not just another wall in the house. Its there wall! Its like there rembrant!
I added some extra lighting to the room too. Lighting can make all the diference in home decorating.
Family involvement!

- I Love your lens, great ideas. I think combining ideas can make for some fabulous walls, especially in kids rooms where you can feel more free to experiment. Combine stickers with simple paint effects, or 3d objects on top of murals etc.
I'll be keeping an eye on your lenses, keep up the great work.
