Along with the millions, I've owned and loved dogs throughout my 57 years. Each one was a "Top Dog" in one or more characteristic 'according to me'.

Their undying devotion and companionship is precious to us, along with the varied ways they help us in our daily lives.

I truly believe I would not be the person I am without dogs in my life. And to tell you the truth... I don't trust a person that my dog is wary of... and I certainly don't trust people that don't like dogs! I'll save you the details of what I think of people that don't take proper care of their dogs and / or are cruel to dogs, because it would probably set off the internet flags to decide this page is not suited for the general audience.

We talk to them as if they were people. We take them for car rides. Some take them for motorcycle rides. Others enjoy the company of their Top Dogs while swimming or jogging.

Some even pamper them with trips to the salon for a shampoo and a new 'doo'.

Hotels across the USA have adopted pet friendly policies to accomodate our dogs, since many of us do not want to vacation without them.

The Rottweiler breed started out as a Mastiff type of Roman herding dog, used by the Romans to conquer Europe. In 700 A.D. in what is now Southern Germany, excavations of the red tiles of Roman villas were unearthed, and to distinguish the villas from each other, one was named "das Rote Wil" meaning "the red tile". The "das Rote Wil" town prospered and Butchers used dogs to drive the cattle to and from the markets. The dogs were called "Rottweil Metzgerhund", meaning "Butcher Dog". Cattle driving wasn't outlawed until the 19th century.

The Rottweiler was bred for protection, and desires to protect their home, family, and territory. They are very intelligent, courageous, and a devoted loving companion.
