There are many ways to generate income from the internet. Some of the methods work best when used in combination. In all instances, it's a really good idea to have more than one stream of income. This also allows you to get a feel for what works best for you.

I will be listing the Top Ten Ways To Make Money Online (in my humble opinion). These are not necessarily listed in order of preference because different methods appeal to different people. However, all of the methods are excellent for generating cash while working at home.

So just what makes the internet so conducive to making extra cash?

What if you didn't even need to have your own product or service and could make money simply by promoting other people's products or services? Many people have created information products that are sold over the internet. In order for these individuals or companies to be successful, they need to sell a large amount of their product. If you sign up as one of their affiliates, they will gladly pay you 25%-75% of the product's selling price, just for referring a buying customer to their website. They can do this because info products are so easy to produce and have almost no overhead. There are affiliate products in a wide range of categories from business, to moneymaking opportunities, to How-To manuals, to weight loss, and more.

A great way to find these affiliate programs is at sites such as www.ClickBank.com or www.CJ.com. There are many affiliate networks that handle affiliate products. Another way to find them is to do a simple web search using the term "affiliate products" or "affiliate networks". If you are looking for a specific product then you can do an Advanced Search on Google. Let's say you're looking for an affiliate product for dog training. First, you would type in the words "affiliate product" in quotation marks. That way the results that are returned will have those two words in that exact order, for more accurate results. Next, you would click on the Advanced Search button and type in the
words dog training. The results will be pages that have both keyword phrases in the description.

ClickBank is probably the best and easiest place to start. Simply go to ClickBank and go to the Marketplace and then to the Promote Products tab. You can do a search by category, keyword, popularity or any combination.

This is one of the absolute best ways to create income on the internet. As far as income streams go, this may be the Mac Daddy of them all! A membership site is exactly what it sounds like. It's a web site for which people pay a fee in order to become a member and have access to the site.

Some sites are free but also have a special portion that can only be accessed by paying members. These sites are usually rich with features and resources.

Membership sites are great for hobbies and special interests. The potential is unlimited, because basically, any subject that has an offline magazine can have an online membership site. There are membership sites for dating, for stock market strategies, for internet marketing, for travel, for fitness, and just about any other specialized information.

The cool thing is you don't have to be an expert to create a membership site. You simply need to find someone who is an expert.

This strategy works in conjunction with the first 3 strategies. In order for them to work you'll need to get traffic to your product or affiliate offer. The slow way to get traffic is to write articles, post comments on related blogs or forums, submit your site to directories, or basically anything you can do that results in links pointing to your site.

The fast way to get traffic is to buy it. You can do this by signing up for a Google AdWords account and bidding on keywords that are relevant to your site. This is the fastest way to drive qualified traffic in your direction. The key is to making this strategy work is to make more money than you spend.

In case you're not familiar with Google AdWords ads, let me explain. If you use Google as your search engine and you type a phrase into the search box, there are results displayed underneath the search box and to the far right of the page. The top 1-3 spots on the left of the Google page are "paid" results and are usually shaded in a pale color. All of the results underneath these are the "generic" results returned by Google. On the far right are also results and all of these are "paid" results, in other words, they paid to be on the first page.

There are many Google AdWords strategies and the gurus all have different systems as to how to succeed with Google AdWords. The key is to learn as much as you can and take the time to actually read Google's advertising policies and tutorials.

Also, it's best not to hop around from one expert to the next. Pick someone who is successful and implement their method to the letter.

One of the best experts I know of is a guy named James Schramko. He is the CTR king! So what exactly is CTR? It stands for Click-Through-Rate and it's probably the most important metric there is in the world of Google AdWords. Basically, it's an indicator of how successful your ads are which is measured by the percentage of people who actually click on them. You can't promote anything if nobody sees what you have.

James consistently receives double digit CTRs which is practically unheard of! These kind of numbers equate to earning a serious online income.

James Schramko has a very inexpensive course that provides a tremendous amount of value in an easy-to-digest format. It's called Double Digit CTR.

The blogging business model is very versatile and has the potential to create a large income stream. A blog offers everything a traditional web site offers and then some. The term "blog" came about as a contraction of the words "web log" and came to be called a "blog" for short. Because blogs are updated more frequently than static websites they tend to generate more traffic.

So you may be wondering, how do you make money with a blog? You do this by combining some of the aforementioned strategies.

1. You can promote related affiliate products.

2. If you can create highly valuable information, you can have a "members only" section on your blog where you can charge members for this information.

3. You can sell your own products on your blog.

4. You can sell ad space on your blog.

5. You can monetize your site with Google AdSense. This is where people who advertise with Google AdWords agree to place ads on related web sites. If their product matches your site's content and their ad is shown on your site, Google pays you a portion of the revenue.

You'll need a few things to get started:

1. You'll need a free blogger or WordPress blogging account. I use WordPress because of the versatility There are all sorts of plug-ins available to enhance your blog's appearance and functionality.

2. Even though you can have your blog hosted for free with WordPress, eventually you'll want to get your own web hosting. That way you can have your own URL or domain name.

3. Next, you'll need a theme for your blog. Themes are like templates which give your blog a consistent appearance and style. There are hundreds of free ones to choose from but if you are using your blog to make money, then one I highly recommend is called Affiliate Theme. It was designed with the affiliate marketer in mind.

This is my very first Squidoo lens ever. Yippee! Although this is my first lens, I've been meaning to create one for a while. You see, the concept behind Squidoo is quite powerful. It allows regular people who aren't internet gurus to create mini sites called "lenses" very quickly. You can monetize these lenses in a number of ways such as advertising, promoting affiliate products, promoting books from Amazon to eBay and so forth.

Everything about Squidoo is conducive to generating income on the web with one caveat: you have to split your profits with Squidoo. I don't know about you, but I've always had the mind set that part of the pie is better than none at all!

If you have a subject that you would like to write about, then creating a lens can be a great way to share this information with others. Then, if you know of any good resources to recommend you do so on your lens.

You won't get rich from a single lens but if you had several high traffic lenses you could supplement your income nicely for work that you do once. Also, because Squidoo allows you to have links to your other sites this boosts their search engine ranking. It's just a tremendous overall concept.

Everyone has heard of eBay and by now, most people who are online have probably bought or sold something on eBay at least once. There are many people who use eBay as a full time business. It's just like having the functionality of a physical storefront without all of the overhead. Also, your products can be viewed 24/7.

You will still have many of the same considerations as an offline brick and mortar business. You need to consider product selection and pricing, inventory management, order processing, shipping and handling, customer service, and so forth.

There are many ways to make money on eBay. Some people find bargains at garage sales and treasure hunts and resell them for a profit. I used to know a waiter who did just this. He scoured garage sales on the weekends and found items he could resell on eBay. He made more money doing that than he did from waiting tables. A word of caution here, not all items listed on eBay will sell and you really need to know what you're doing to make money with the garage sale method.

For this strategy you will need a blog or web site. The key to success with this strategy is to have a good number of pages with high traffic.

The rest is super easy. You just sign up with Google AdSense and they will place relevant text ads on your site. When your reader clicks on one of the ads, you earn money. This can be anywhere from a few cents to several dollars depending on the category.

Network Marketing has become a great online and offline business opportunity. Network Marketing was formerly called MLM or Multi-Level Marketing, which developed a bit of a negative connotation. Network marketing is really about the structure in which a company promotes its products. Large companies pay tremendous advertising costs to get consumers to purchase their products. Some companies choose a different approach. By allowing individuals to promote their products in return for the possibility to earn commissions, the company saves money on advertising and develops their business by word of mouth.

If you are able to build your business to a certain level, you can collect repeated income while working flexible hours. Another nice thing is that this business model has low overhead and usually little or no inventory depending on the company.

In order to be successful in network marketing you must believe in the company and its products. If this is something you are interested in, begin by finding a network marketing product that you are passionate about. Research the company and make sure they have integrity and an excellent commission structure.

In this strategy you can either make your own website or buy an existing site and then sell it. The key is to buy low and sell high.

How does this work?

1. Build a site or buy an existing one and start by increasing traffic to the website.

2. Monetize the site by selling ad space.

3. Promote affiliate products to generate additional income.

4. If possible, add enough value so that you can make it a paid membership site to create a perpetual income stream.

If you can make the site more profitable, then you have succeeded in increasing its value.
