Shogun Total War Wiki
Shogun: Total War is a turn-based strategy and real-time tactics computer game developed by The Creative Assembly and published by Electronic Arts. Released in June 2000, the game is the debut title in The Creative Assembly's Total War series. Set in Japan during the Sengoku jidai?the "Warring States" period from the mid-15th century to the beginning of the 17th century?the game has players adopt the role of a contemporary Japanese clan, attempt to conquer the nation and claim the position of shogun. The turn-based aspect of the game focuses on a map of Japan where military force, religion, diplomacy, espionage and economics all influence the player's actions, whilst battles are fought in a real-time mode. Sun Tzu's The Art of War is central to the game; its precepts are quoted often and its strategies recommended.
Announced in early 1999, Shogun: Total War was The Creative Assembly's first high business risk product; previous products had involved creating video games for the EA Sports brand. The game was initally conceived as a real-time strategy "B-title" powered by 2D computer graphics following the popularisation of the genre through titles such as Command & Conquer. However, proliferation of 3D video cards amongst consumers led to a transition to 3D graphics. Through the course of development, Shogun: Total War evolved into a real-time tactics game with a focus on historical authenticity; military historian Stephen Turnbull advised The Creative Assembly in this regard. The turn-based campaign map was added to include context for the real-time battles.
Medieval Total War
This is a great game, that would later release Viking Invasion as part of an expansion pack. Medieval also brings in seige weapons, something that Shogun did not have. Crusades and Jihads also dot the landscape, and having a princess to marry off may help seal political alliances you wouldn't otherwise have.
Oh, by the way, don't get excommunicated. That rarely bodes well :)
Medieval: Total War
The classic original version of this game.
Medieval: Total War Gold Edition
This version adds several new countries to control, more custom units, and is probably even twice as good as the original.
Medieval: Total War Battle Collection (Viking Invasion)
Includes the gold edition of Medieval, as well as the expansion pack: Viking Invasion.
Medieval Total War Wiki
Medieval: Total War is a turn-based strategy and real-time tactics computer game developed by The Creative Assembly and published by Activision. Set in the Middle Ages, it is the second game in the Total War series, following on from the 2000 title Category: Shogun: Total War - . Originally announced in August 2001, the game was released in North America on 20 August 2002 and in Europe on 30 August.
Following a similar, but improved, form of play to Shogun: Total War, the player builds a dynastic empire in Europe, North Africa and the Middle East, spanning the period of 1087 to 1453. Gameplay is both strategic and tactical, with strategy played out in turn-based fashion on a province-by-province level, while military units of varying types and capabilities fight against each other in real time on a 3D battlefield.
Medieval: Total War received acclaim from reviewers; several critics commending it as a milestone in gaming. The real-time battles were praised for their realism and the new feature of siege battles, although received some criticism for unit management. The depth and complexity of the strategy portion was also received well by reviewers, together with well integrated historical accuracy. The game was a commercial success, topping the British video game chart upon release.
Medieval Total War Viking Invasion
Now this is an insane challenge!
You must lead your faction. Technology is low, the number of unique units low, so you must use them wisely, and the Vikings are constantly invading. This is not only an addition to the game, but this expansion is FAR harder to win (especially if you like playing the challening nations, like I do) than the original.
This is a great game, and I personally reccomend it highly!
Medieval: Total War Viking Invasion Expansion Pack
Here's the expansion. Try beating it as the Irish or one of the Scottish factions--when the Vikings back stab you it's freaking hard!!!
Total War Collector's Edition
Why buy one when you can get them all together?
Rome: Total War
Rome Total War: Barbarian Invasion Expansion Pack
Like I said, I loved the Hordes, and this game is worth it cheap, but more in the B range instead of the A, I think
Rome: Total War Gold Edition
Comes with the Barbarian Expansion Pack.
