Children Love Dogs

Children seem to love all animals naturally-- dogs, cats, horses, rabbits -- but especially dogs. Dogs and puppies! They love to read about them, play with them, chase and be chased by them, play with pretend models, sleep with soft fluffy ones or real ones, and draw and color them. Find your favorite toy dogs and books about dogs below. Remember to tell us about your toy dogs and books in the comment section at the end.

Do you remember?

Do you remember your favorite toy? Was it a stuffed animal? How about your child's favorite toy? Our grandchildren both love animal toys and books - and real animals, too!

Toys and books are the tools of childhood work - we human beings learn through play and interaction with others. It is vital to purchase toys and books with great care. First, of course, for safety. But also purchase toys and books with an awareness of the importance of those choices in terms of growth and education.

You can teach your child to love and respect our animal kingdom. Books about animals, stuffed dogs and teddy bears and other animal reproductions will help you to do that.

Remember these?

I love Fancy Nancy! And now Fancy Nancy has a dog!

Go, Dog, Go! is another family favorite. An old favorite, this one is easily memorized! I think I know it myself! "Dogs in cars again, going around fast!"

How old is Pokey Puppy? A true classic!

Allergic to dogs? Live in a "no pets" area?

Teach your child to love animals -- even when he/she cannot have one of her own.

With wise use of animal toys as teaching models, you can still teach your child to love animals -- even if you have no animals at home. Read stories about dogs. Play pretend games with stuffed dogs. Let your child sleep with a favorite toy puppy. Visit pet stores. Take your child to visit a friend with new puppies. Talk positively about animals. Your influence will determine your child's attitude toward the animal kingdom.

Oh dogs are near and dear to us. My boys would run up to any dog they saw when they were younger and we had to teach them that not all dogs are ready for little boys to be in their face.

I have raised and given away 7 wonderful dogs in my lifetime. They have always been my best friends. At the moment I have a full German bred, all light brown minaiture Pinscher. I named him Maximus after the Russel Crowe character in GLADIATOR. Like most little dogs he has a little dog complex. He thinks he's a 500 pound gorrilla! Anyways, great lens and FIGHT ON BABY! Come and visit my USC football lens.

My daughter's 2 1/2 year old was bitten on the face by their 16 year old dog. He had to have stitches and everything. Is he afraid of the dog? No, much to their chagrin! Yes, kids love dogs! *****
