Transfomer, Bumblebee

This summer, many of us were introduced to a super cool robot named Bumblebee.  He's from the movie, Transformers, and one of the Autobots, the good guys.  Bumblebee and the other Transformers came to us from the planet Cybertron where they've been battling the Decepticons, the evil Transformers.

Here on Earth, in order to remain anonymous, the Transformers had to assume the guise of something machinery such as common cars, trucks, airplanes, etc.  Remember the tagline: "Transformers, robots in disguise."

Bumblebee in the 80's cartoon was running around as a VW bug.  In this year's movie, he had a slight change.  He ran around as a beatup 1977 Camaro at first, then upgraded to a current model sometime during the movie.  According to Wikipedia, Michael Bay insisted on the change because there's too much of a Herbie the love bug vibe.

I recall a little bit about Bumblebee from the 80's cartoon and much like the movie, he's teamed up with a human kid in many of his ventures.  Bumblebee's small stature for a robot allowed for such ventures because he's often sneaking around areas with the human kid.

In the 2007 movie, he's paired up again with a human kid, Sam Witwicky, as a guardian, the ultimate one at that.  Raise your hand out there -- how many driving-age teen boys would want a "wingman" who'll help them get the girl by playing the right music for the mood and stalling you with your girl at a romantic part of town?  Oh, and when she complains about "crappy looking", change looks to something she likes.

That's Bumblebee -- the ultimate guardian.
