Travis Wall, Contemporary Dance Choreographer

Travis Wall is best known as Season Two Runner Up on So You Think You Can Dance (SYTYCD). In Season 5, he was inducted into the special group of choreographers for the show. The beautiful contemporary routine he choreographed received a standing ovation from judges. On July 6th, 2011, Travis made his first appearance as a guest judge on the show!

This lens is part of a series including the choreographers from the Fox Reality Show SYTYCD. I'm a huge dance fan, and addicted to Reality TV. I've really admired the choreography on the show and for the first five seasons before I started creating lenses about SYTYCD, I wondered, "Where did these great choreographers come from?"

So the purpose of this series of lenses is to provide a short biography of each choreographer, and to remind you of their work on the show.

Travis Wall Biography

Travis started dancing at the age of 3 at his mom's studio in Viriginia Beach, Va. He's appeared on Broadway in "The Music Man" and has appeared in numerous national commercials and TV shows. Wall performs regularly with American Dance Artists, as well as for Evolution and Moving Still dance companies. He has also toured with the New York City Dance Alliance (NYCDA).

Wall teaches students Contemporary at NUVO, a dance convention that tours the nation (www.gonuvo.com). Most recently he was the first runner-up on FOX's hit reality show "So You Think You Can Dance." Travis continues to teach all over the country and is leading a new generation of choreographers.

Wall and Ivan Koumaev made a dance video in 2007 called Its About Time. It was made for the viewer's entertainment and is not an educational DVD. Not limited to just dance, Travis and his friend Ivan have started a clothing line called "Twenty-Two."

Music from SYTYCD

Travis' first routine

If It Kills Me (Album Version)

This is the music Travis used for the first dance he choreographed on SYTYCD. The dance was a very moving Contemporary routine choreographed for Jeanine (winner of season 5) and Jason. This song, combined with Travis' routine, is a sure winner!
