Trees of Heaven - (Ailanthus altissima)

Ranked #27,202 in Home & Garden, #492,861 overall

the Weeds in my Garden Series

I'm making this page about Tree of Heaven because the darn things are all over the place around here, and I hate them.
Messy, Smelly trees, they grow so fast that they need to mowed just about weekly, the wood stinks and is brittle.
If I had a time machine, I'd go back in time and nip this invasion in the bud.

I can't believe there isn't a law against planting the dang things

Now I hear these are sometimes referred to as Ghetto Palms,
you got that right,
these things will reduce any concrete and asphalt jungle to an overgrown ruin ready for an apocolyptic movie set.

Dec 3, 2010 - took the sawzall to a pile of ailanthus trunks and limbs, made a big pile of stinkfirewood,
but is BTUs and doesn't smell as bad as the coal one of the neighbor has been burning.

Gallery

all these trees were sent to the compost pile after the photoshoot.
