We Squidoo for charity! One of the coolest things about Squidoo is the opportunity provided for lensmasters designate all or part of their proceeds to charity. Consider creating a lens today for a charitable cause.

The City of Kennewick Recreation Dept hosts its very own Fishing Kids Program Saturday, May 5th. The object of the activity is to develop a program that provides opportunities for urban youth to go fishing. There has been an abundance of positive feedback from the kids, their parents, and volunteers involved in the program.

Mostly the kids complain about not fishing long enough!    Each of the events is created to host from 500 to 1, 200 kids. There is a $5.00 entry fee, and each youth receives a Fishing Kids T-Shirt and Zebco rod and reel.

All youth taking part need to pre-register, although walk-ups will be accepted if there is room. The youth are put into groups of 100-250 and are able to fish for 30-60 minutes (depending on the site). At all times experienced anglers are on hand to instruct and to help both the children and their parents.

The groups of kids involved in the Kennewick Fishing Program alternate between fishing and casting competitions, as well as educational sessions that are hosted by the local fishing groups. There are also information tables available that are run by agencies such as the Fish & Wildlife Aquatic Education Department, the Coast Guard, and other agencies that are in some way related to outdoor activities.  For more information and registration, please visit here. Tri-Cities Washington is passionate about its basketball, and encourages its youth to embrace the sport. To support youth involvement in sporting activities the City Councils has developed Youth Basketball Clinics. These free clinics have been run for 28 years, and are available for all girls and boys aged 7-14 years.

Each player is placed randomly into a small group that is determined by their age. A 90 minute instruction into the fundamentals of basketball is then presented with opportunities for each player to model the advice given. The instructors for the clinics are High School coaches in the Pasco, Kennewick, and Richland school districts, as well as varsity players. The clinics are held in local gyms throughout the year. The Tri-City Regional Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Seattle Seahawks, is proud to host the Annual "Tri-Cities Day with the Seattle Seahawks"

Due to the incredible season last year, and winning NFC Championship title a few years ago, Seahawk season ticket sales have skyrocketed. The Tri-City Regional Chamber of Commerce has some tickets to be sold for the opening home game. They will be sold on a first come basis.

Ticket prices are $50.00 (please confirm), which includes a commemorative t-shirt. The ticket order form is attached and also available on the Chamber website at the Chamber offices.
