THE EVENT
Held at the beautiful New York Times building in Manhattan
I've developed an entirely new presentation based on my new book. It's about leadership and tribes and connection and I'm quite excited about it.
You're encouraged to videotape the event, to take notes and to take as much away as you can. Every attendee gets a copy of my presentation and permission to use it to give presentations.

Time and place, etc.
The event is Wednesday, October 22nd at 9:15 am sharp. The address is 242 W 41st St, New York, NY 10036. It's between Seventh and Eighth Ave. There's a map near the bottom of this page.

FOUR KINDS OF TICKETS!
Please read this
--VIP Tickets
--Reserved Free Seats for Triiibe members (already sold out, sorry)
--Buy Three Books From CEO READ
--General Admission Seats ALREADY SOLD OUT
There are 50 VIP seats. These tickets cost $250 each. They come with a signed book and a limited edition t-shirt. Best of all, they get you a reserved seat and first entry to the auditorium about an hour before the show begins.
There are a few reserved free seats. These get you in the door at 8 am. If you're on the list, you're in. These were offered first to the people who joined the online Triiibe in August. They're all gone now, though.
If you're not lucky enough to get a free reserved seat and you don't want to pony up for a VIP seat, no problem. There are also a bunch of reserved seats available to the first people who buy 3 copies of Tribes from CEO READ. See below how to get yours.
The rest of the seats are free, limited, and allow entrance on a first-come, first-served basis. You get a ticket in advance (you need to be on the list) and you can arrive as early as 7:00 am at the theatre. We'll be handing out numbers. Go for coffee and come back at 8:30 and we'll let you in by order of your number.

The ticket wrangling team will hold on to the emails we get before September 20, 2008 and will pick the winners. There will be some picked first come first served, and others at random.
I won't be responding to these notes other than to tell you whether or not you got a seat. After September 20, it's too late. [NOW EXTENDED to 10/1]!
Please don't ask for a seat unless you're serious about being there.
To get your general admission seat, you can arrive as early as 7 am. We won't be able to let you into the building, but we'll start handing out numbers. Then, you can come back at 8 am, line up by number and we'll admit by numerical order.
Thanks!

Glimpses from GEL
It really is a great theatre.
The timing
Please take a hard look
8 AM -- We open the doors for VIP attendees.
8:15 AM -- We open the doors for reserved free seats.
8:15 AM -- We open the doors for those who bought multiple copies from 800-CEO-READ.
8:25 AM -- All remaining reserved seats are up for grabs and we admit as many general admission attendees as we can. We will let people in the order you arrived, based on giving you a number starting at 7 am.
Our goal is to have a seat for everyone, but it's a tricky thing, so we can't absolutely guarantee that general admission folks will get a seat.

The book is terrific. Sadly (for me), I took ill last night and was unable to travel to today's event. I want to apologize for not using my seat. Is it possible to get a copy of the presentation?

I was lucky enough to receive a VIP ticket! Do I pick that up at the door or is my name on a list at the door?
Thanks!

Joanna says:
Will there be a live webcast? If not, I'm hoping that one of the many video cameras you're encouraging posts the whole thing or at least juicy clips!

Will you be signing copies of Tribes after the event? And will there be other Seth-goodies for sale?

Dave Cortright says:
I've got a reserved seat, but I can't attend. Can you give it to someone who will be there? I definitely don't want any empty seats!

Seth's answer
sethgodin says:
Not a lot of plans for goodies on sale. Yes, I'll sign whatever I can!

Seth Godin says:
Feel free to have someone take your slot. Just have them use your name.

Seth Godin says:
Reserved seats are valid until we start, but I can only guarantee a slot until 8:20 or so. Judging from the ticket allocation, you have a 99% chance even if you get there at 9 am.
