Trying to Get of Incapacity Benefit This is not a scam or anything this is about me. It is genuine I shall explain in detail but as the Title Reads I am Trying to Get of Incapacity Benefit. (Temporary note, I am still very much interested in Employment for 20hrs a week, due to an operation scheduled for September a realistic start date would be the middle of October)
A little About me to Start
Hi and Thank you for taking the time to read this Lens, My name is Adrian and I am a 40 something male living in Wales.Due to health Reasons I currently claim Incapacity Benefit and as such is my only source of income. As someone who would rather work for a living than claim benefits I am looking for Employment within the constraints my illness allows. I am not looking for sympathy or charity, but writing this lens at the least it may help someone else going through the same situation, if it works then maybe I shall find employment.if you wish to contact me then please feel free.
What I am trying to achieve
At the moment I am Claiming Incapacity Benefit For a Lung condition. My intention is to find Employment possibly with some form of training aspect involved to replace my benefit. Although at the moment I am restricted to working from home hopefully within 12 month's this will have improved. To be realistic I would like to work approximately 4 hours a day over a 5 day period but I remain as flexible as my condition allows.
Skills
Communication
All through my working life communicating with people has been a key aspect. I believe I have the ability to communicate and listen to people from all aspects of life without being intimidating or intimidated. I have an open friendly personality which I believe projects trust and a sense of humour.
Team Work
I have worked in various team's, from a small close knit Company such as Wiltshire farm foods to very large examples such as the Royal Navy and Carnival Cruise line. In some instances I have been a team member and others the Team leader. I have enjoyed both equally. I have also worked as a courier which although being part of a team the majority of the working day you are working by yourself with Team support.
Logistics
I have had various sphere's of responsabilty from organizing a delivery round of 50-60 parcels, ordering and Storing catering suppliers for a naval Destroyer going on a 6 month employment and planning International household and Commercial Removals.
Driving
I Hold Full European Driving license with no points. After Learning to drive in Holland I am comfortable driving on either side of the road. I also have 3 Years experience driving various form's of Vans Delivering Parcels and Frozen Meals
Computing
Self taught I have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and am currently learning Front page. I also have a good standard of knowledge of Internet/Email use.

What health restraints do I have
It is very difficult for me to walk more than 50m at the moment due to a lung condition, I do not want to go into details on a public Lens but if you were to consider me for some form of employment then I will gladly give permission for access to my Doctor for full disclosure. I hopefully will make a full recovery one day which will allow me to work more Hours and although I am looking for 20hrs approx at the moment the intention would be for any Employment to expand as my capabilities do. What Facility's do I have for Working from Home
Full Broadband connection to the Internet with 2 Computers one of which can be Dedicated soley for work. Office with Telephone Line which also could be dedicated if required. Printer Scanner and full Video Conferencing if Required. My Link List

Thanks for taking the time for reading this lens. Below are details of the UK Incapacity Benefit and the Pathways to work Scheme for anyone with an Interest.
To sum up I am looking for Employment for approximately 20hrs a week working from home online.I am not currently looking to be Self Employed but maybe in the future if that is a progression from the 20hr Employment with the Company I find employment with.
It is difficult to give enough information to maybe find an interested Employer and at the same time keep the required privacy for a public Site, for anyone with an interest to employ me further details will be forthcoming.

What is Incapacity Benefit
Incapacity Benefit is a State Benefit paid to people who can't work because of illness or disability in the UK who are under State Pension age. It is paid at various rates.
short-term (lower rate) £63.75
short-term (higher rate) £75.40
long-term basic rate £84.50
This is paid until you are physically or mentally able to return to work.

Incapacity Benefit on Wikki
Incapacity Benefit is a United Kingdom state benefit intended for those below the State Pension age who cannot work because of illness or disability. The benefit is administered by Jobcentre Plus (an executive agency of the Department for Work and Pensions).
What restraints are imposed being on Incapacity Benefit
Below are the basic rules for working whilst on Incapacity Benefit
"Permitted Work is a benefit arrangement - employers do not offer 'permitted work'. You do not need approval from your doctor or have to have a medical test just because you are doing permitted work. However, if a medical test is due as part of your ongoing benefits-related review, it will go ahead as planned.
You can work:
* for earnings of up to and including £20.00 a week for an unlimited period, or
* for less than 16 hours a week, on average, with earnings up to and including £88.50 a week for a 52 week period
* for less than 16 hours a week, on average, and earn up to and including £88.50 a week for as long as your illness or disability is considered sufficiently severe that you are treated as meeting the threshold of incapacity without undergoing a medical assessment"
These rules make it possible to start returning to work gradually if they are used by the claiment and the Department correctly. Sadly it seems that if you are capable of working 16hrs a week you will be considered "Fit for Work and have your benefit stopped"
The other Way is a return to work grant which is £40 a week for 12months as long as you work 20hrs a week or more.(and dont earn over a certain amount)

Pathways to Work helps people to get work if they are receiving Incapacity Benefit because of a health condition or disability. Many people are better off working, but it can be difficult to think about work when you are coping with a health problem or disability - this is where Pathways to Work can help.They are very good but with the Work from Home sector not really having any format at the moment it is difficult for them to be able to help me in my situation although my Adviser is trying his hardest Department of Work and Pensions News Feed

- I used to feel quite defensive when people moaned about Incapacity Benefit but these days I just get very very angry. Every media story and every political statement made on this issue presumes that there is widespread fraud and "malingering", where there is absolutely no evidence that this is the case. Of course fraud exists, as it undoubtedly does throughout the tax and benefit systems, but there is no evidence that it is widespread with IB. In fact, I struggled to find any up to date statistics about fraud at all.
