Turkoman Handicrafts from Central Asia

I was recently introduced to the jewelry of this fascinating ethnic group from Central Asia and began to research more about the history and traditions of the people.

Although Turkmenistan is now an independent country, the Turkmen tribal/ethnic group also has significant populations in Iran, Afghanistan, and even Russia.

Their jewelry tends to be silver or gold washed silver and incorporates semi-precious gemstones such as carnelian and lapis lazuli.

I hope you will enjoy learning more about this ethnic group and its arts.
