In case you did not know, many people are using Twitter as a way to increase their communication. There are several reasons to use Twitter. Some people use Twitter just as a social tool to stay in touch with family and friends. Other people use twitter as way you subtlely market themselves on the internet. Whether you are in it for the fun or just for social purposes, you will find that building a huge following is the best way to take advantage of Twitter's service.

If you are new to Twitter and are in need of building followers, then you need to follow the ten steps I have listed below.

Step #1: You will need to do is Follow Me...of course!

Step #2: Go to Twellow and claim your Twitter Profile. Twellow is a Twitter directory with over 590,000 Twitter profiles.

Step #3: While on Twellow find that category that you would like to generate followers in and start following some people. Most people will generally return the favor.

Step #4: Join a few forums that relates to your niche. Search the forum for a Twitter threads and join the group. Forums such as CYN and Warrior Forum have several Twitter threads.

Step #5: Join a few social networks like Facebook, Myspace, or Better Networker. Search the social network for a Twitter group. Join the group and leave your Twitter profile link. If they do not have a group,you can start one.

Step #6: When you receive a new follower check their profile and find their friends that have similar interest.

Step #7: Add your Twitter updates to your blog. This feature will give your visitors an alternative to way of staying in tune with your blog post.

Step #8: Add a Twitter module to your Squidoo lens. All your visitors will have the opportunity to follow you and stay abreast on new updates to your website or blog.

Step #9: Add you follow me Twitter signature to your forum post. Forums post are indexed by the search engines, so your Twitter profile will show up in the search engines.

Step #10: Add your follow me twitter link to your email signature. Everytime you send an email your Twitter link will be exposed

There are several other ways to generate traffic to your website with Twitter. The best way is to have fun with it. The more you use Twitter, the more ways you will find to make it unique to your needs.
