She's been on Oprah and Montel. She's been on Japanese and Korean TV and is scheduled to fly to Istanbul next month.

Faith's owner, Jude Stringfellow, 46, said she gave up her job as a teacher in Oklahoma to take Faith on the road. Her son found Faith as a puppy, and the dog has grown into a calling and a job.

Her focus, she said, is spreading Faith's message.

Faith By Name Faith By Nature

An Amazing 2 Leg Dog Tale

Faith, a bipedal female dog, was born in December 2002 with only three legs; two fully-developed hind legs and a deformed front leg, which was amputated when she was 7 months old after it began to atrophy. Her owner, Jude Stringfellow, adopted Faith when the mother dog was found trying to smother the deformed puppy-- her son rescued the puppy and brought her home. Many people, including veterinarians, advised that Faith be euthanized. Instead, using a spoon with peanut butter as an incentive, Jude taught Faith to hop but Faith decided on her own to walk; the family's corgi would bark at Faith from another room, or nip her heels to urge her to walk.

Faith is not the only two-legged dog, there is a chihuahua in Texas, with a similar condition who also walks upright, but Faith is probably the most famous.

It is surmounting difficulties that makes heroes.

~ Louis Pasteur

in reply to sandyspider They are amazing animals! It is interesting how animals don't let minor set backs [like missing legs] get them down, but they make the most of what they have got - a great lesson for us.

Since I have 5 1/2 dog lenses, I'm partial to all pet lenses. I'm impressed how the pets down let there handicap get in the way. Great use of video. I love the German Shepherd puppy at the top.

in reply to The_Homeopath It is a sad reflection on our society that we value the disabled so lowly.

What a beautiful and inspiring subject! Thank you for highlighting these animals and the humans who care for them. Shortly after I adopted my kitty who was born deaf I was absolutely shocked to find so many places that support euthanizing injured, blind, and deaf animals. Looking for info online for tips on how to care for her, it just made me sick to see "reputable" sites and organizations espousing their beliefs that it is humane to put them down rather than allow them to live with a disability.
