A Skivvy Wavers's 4th of July US Navy Covers!

In addition to collecting ship cancels, many ship collectors concentrate on various holidays and events. The Fourth of July is just one such collecting interest.

In my own experience there are appear to be fewer Fourth of July ship covers than for other events. Christmas, Easter, Washington and Lincoln's Birthday and Navy day seem to be more popular, but that may be just a quirk in the type of material I have encountered over the years.

I maintain an eBay store with 1000's of covers from 100's of US Navy ships at Ship covers but that doesn't make me an expert onthis topic. It could be that many fourth of July covers are tied up in collections, and thus off the market. Whatever the cause, I thought I would share a few cachets I do have, and invite you to add to the mix any covers you might that also have a fourth of July cancel or theme.

Please Let Me Know You have Been Here

Give me a star rating too!

If you like this idea of my displaying a few ship covers along thematic lines every now and again, let me know.

If you think I've done an okay job (as a beginner at this,) give me a STAR rating from 1-5 at the top of this page.

If you have advice, comments or suggestions, leave a note in the guest book.

About enetwal

Hello, world. My name is Earl Netwal and I served aboard a couple US Navy ships during the Vietnam War.

I was a signal man. We were the guys that blinked the lights in Morse code and signaled with hand flags.

The flags were called Skivvys or underwear in Navy Slang, thus I was a Skivvy Waver.

I am an active eBayer, with a lot of Naval Ship Covers as one of my specialties.

I use Squidoo to show off some potential collecting themes.

I buy large lots and accumulations of mail and philatelic covers and identify and list individual covers for sale.

I welcome you to visit my ebay store
