The Department of State announced a change in how applicants may petition to participate in the Diversity Visa lottery program.

All persons registering for an opportunity to apply for a U.S. immigrant visa under the diversity lottery will have to do so electronically.

The Department will no longer accept paper entries or mail-in requests for diversity visa registration.

What is the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program ( DV-2010)?


The purpose of the program is to increase diversity within the United States through random lottery winners from select countries.


Winners are selected only after completing an entry from for the DV-2010, located on MyUSGreencard.com, and submitting it in a timely manner, complete and without any errors. Any minor errors or late submissions will significantly decrease your chances of being selected in the DV-2010 Green card Lottery.


Although there has been a new green card lottery every year, there is no guarantee that there will be a DV-2011. There may be a change in the US Immigration Policy, ending the Diversity Immigrant Visa Program. Apply now at MyUSGreencard.com to win a green card, as it may be the last time the program runs.


Which year should I apply for?


Applicants will be applying for the DV-2010 Diversity Immigrant Program from MyUSGreencard.com. The year of the program refers to the year in which the green cards are awarded. If you apply now for the DV-2010, you will be award your green card in 2011. Please be sure to not fill out any applications for the DV-2009, as the registration ended in December 2007.
