Max Lucado has touched millions with his signature storytelling writing style. Awards and accolades follow Max with each book he writes. Max is the first author to win the Gold Medallion Christian Book of the Year three times—1999 for Just Like Jesus, 1997 for In the Grip of Grace and 1995 for When God Whispers Your Name. In 2005, Reader's Digest dubbed him "America's Best Preacher." In addition, he has been an ECPA Gold Medallion finalist with more titles than any other author in the industry.

He has appeared on the Publishers Weekly, USA Today and New York Times bestseller lists. He has won eight ECPA Gold Medallion awards.
In addition to his nonfiction books, Lucado has authored several award-winning children's titles including, Just In Case You Ever Wonder, The Crippled Lamb, Alabaster's Song and the award-winning You Are Special. Max is also the author of Hermie: A Common Caterpillar, and the Max Lucado's Hermie and Friends collection of books and DVD's are quickly becoming a fixture on bestseller lists. He also served as the general editor for the best-selling Lucado Study Bible and God's Inspirational Promise Book.
In the Fall of 2006, he released Facing Your Giants, followed by Every Day Deserves a Chance in April of the 2007.

Fireworks in our family!

How can I show my appreciation to someone who has helped to change the lives of those dearest to me? Not just myself but my wife and children as well. He receives accolades all the time so I am aware that he knows what he is doing is working to serve the lord. I however, would like to share my personal story of how Max Lucado has helped to change my family by bringing God's word to us in a way that we can all relate to.My wife began reading Max back when we were dating. She has held on to every book she has purchased and several of his children's books are regular reads with the kids before bedtime. I've enjoyed watching the Hermie DVD's with the kids but never really understood him as an author until we did a small group bible study on his book Come Thirsty. I was so enthralled that even after the bible study faded I wanted to continue to read this book. Now understand I am not a "book guy". Granted I like to write and share my thoughts but even then I doubt that anyone actually reads these things. So for me to want to read a book is nothing short of amazing. My wife and I regularly read devotionals as well as the bible with our children before we say prayers at night. This can sometimes take upwards of 1 hour to a little over give or take how awake the children are. Max Lucado has become a very important part of our study time. Our children are asking for more of his books to be read nightly. If we go straight to devotional and bible they will stop us and ask "What about the Max Lucado book?"
My wife enjoys reading to us from these books and she giggles along with the kids at his analogies of today's world and Jesus life.
Max Lucado gives us a relevant look at today's world while applying God's teaching. He shares things from such a fun point of view that even my 8 year old understands and laughs along. The fire for God that I am seeing in my family is being ignited by the spirit that provides the fireworks for Lucado's writings. Presently we are reading When God Whispers Your Name. I'd suggest starting with this one if you are a non book kind of person yourself. He is short, humorous and too the point. You just never know. He may lead you learn God's word in such a way that you to become on fire and rain down on others like those fireworks on the 4th of July. The bright lights shining like fireworks are instead being used to share the word of God. Join in the fun!
