    also,on the pinging, any new URL submissions should be pinged particularly forum posts and blog comments.

    Search engine submissions are important but as comprehensive as your list shows above, its not necessary to submit to all those. The only exception i recommend is Exactseek but otherwise, send to Google, Yahoo, Bing - that will do it.

    I certainly did not know that there were that many search engines. I find that my articles appear on Google right away. No amount of persuasion can get them on Bing, I'm afraid.

    You are right. After your site get indexed by search engine, You need not submit to search engines. Instead, you can ping your site.

    I think submitting URL to various search engine is the best start to SEO. Unless and until you don't submit your URL to search engine you will not get the high ranking.

    when i started to submit my blog to the above list, many engines replied that my URL is already in their database. will this tag my blog as spam??
    i did not submit to the same engine twise?

    You don't have to submit to search engine's more than once. What you can do is, If you updated your blog with new contest, You can ping the search engines. That will not harm.

    This is great- this is just the info I've been looking for. Quick question though-- is there any particular reason to have an alternate email address for URL Submission? What if I have a folder in my current email account where I can store all the emahe ils? Or do I need the alternate email address because I can't make numerous URL submissions with the same email address?

    Thanks. There are lot of chances for spam mails when use that for submitting URL. So always better not to use your main E-mail id for submitting your sites.

    People would be better advised to concentrate on getting links to their lenses from other sites, particularly on relevant words, eg 'low calorie diets' rather than 'click here' instead of wasting time submitting sites to search engines. Google, Yahoo and MSN will find your lens or website. As SE spiders crawl Squidoo regularly and frequently, they have probably found it before you get round to submitting it. Even if this is not the case, having links to your lens on other websites in text relevant to the subject will increase the importance Google and other SEs give to your lens and so push it further up the results. Just submitting your lens will not do this.

    You don't have add any HTML link in your site. You have to submit manually, Most of them will not ask you to activate by sending email.
