Pointedly -- I'm Moving To A New Haystack

I'm now sixty years old. Thirty years of my life I spent allowing Christ to find me and discovering the peace of a relationship with the living God. The next thirty I spent learning to trust his leading in everything; that every gift he gives is good and is complete. God takes care of all the effects caused by our shared actions. The next thirty I'll spend serving with Christ wherever he leads. I've been called to travel with him.

Life, she is good.

March 20, 2012 I'll fly on a one way ticket to Uruguay. I will take a bus to a coastal city where I have a dorm room rented in a hostel for twelve days. After that I have no idea, around Christmas 2011 as this is written, of what will happen next. I expect the next five years to fly past as I learn and explore.

I'm not of this world, I'm an ambassador from my home-in-Christ to a troubled world. As an ambassador, a sent one, my maintenance and duties are the responsibility of the one that sent me. For today I'm picturing that as a missionary to Uruguay. Once I get there I will discover new paths.

A rocket's guidance system does it no good when it's sitting on its big, fat, launching pad. I'm getting off my pad and I'll let the Holy Spirit's guidance continue. The button has been pushed, in-flight changes are expected. I know and I've experienced that God's grace is more than sufficient.

This is going to be fun.

What will I be doing?

I don't know.

My gifts have been directed toward peaching, teaching, and giving. I expect more of the same; and prayer.

I will likely need to learn past my rudimentary Spanish. We were born to experience and learn from change; we were taught to fear it. Change is wonderful.

Hasta pronto.

Important!

What is Christianity?

Christianity is not rules, regulations, institutions, bureaucracies.

Christianity is developing a relationship with God based on the completed work of Jesus Christ.

If someone says you'll have to do something other than accept the free gift of Christ's work to start your adoption process into God's family, they have been lied to.

Children Are Valued In Uruguay

I'm traveling to a nation without enemies and a bright future.

Uruguay is supposed to be a middle class country, with first world infrastructure, and a fairly even distribution of wealth. Every child and every teacher in every Uruguayan school has a laptop. There are poor, but their number is small and supposed to be decreasing. I won't know until I get there and explore.

The contrasts come in summertime (December through February) when wealthy international tourists visit resort areas -- basking in the sun and safety of an unaggressive society. Tourism is as important to the country's economy as agriculture.

Uruguay is a purposely secular nation, a nation in transition. That to me is a hopeful sign of potentially open hearts and minds. I hope to contribute to the future of it's people even as I learn and grow. I expect it to take at least a year to develop a basic understanding of the country.

I pray to fall in love with a society, one individual at a time.

“Warm feelings aren't
necessary for acts of
faith and love,
but they often follow.”

After You Accept Christ

Ask God to help you read and understand the Bible.

He will have the one Christ called "The Comforter" help you understand his love letters. Without that shared love allowed by your decision to have a relationship -- the love letters will have little meaning.

Start with the first four books in the New Testament, That's where you'll learn more about Jesus Christ.

Read the book of Acts, That's where you'll find how you and other Christians should relate.

Get involved in a good church.
(If I found a perfect church I wouldn't join it, because I'd ruin it.)
