Using Liposuction to Beat the Cellulite Battle

Liposuction is an effective way to reduce cellulite. While other cellulite treatments like creams, massage and lotions take awhile to take effect liposuction is quick and easy way to get rid of that fat underneath the skin.

A Quick Overview of Liposuction for Cellulite

Cellulite is that dimpled appearance that can affect almost any area of the body. Most women in their life time will be affected by it.

While exercise and a good diet can help you to reduce cellulite over time the battle against cellulite becomes harder and harder, especially as you get older. Creams and lotions are available that can help reduce the appearance of this condition, as well as spa treatments like laser therapy and massage. However, sometimes the only way to treat cellulite is to use cosmetic surgery.

Liposuction is one such cosmetic surgery operation that can help reduce cellulite. It is used to sculpt and smooth areas of the body but isn't designed for weight loss and should only be used on people who are already at a healthy weight.
With the actual operation a small incision is made in the skin and a tube is inserted. This tube sucks fat and excess cells out to reduce fat pockets and all those unsightly lumps and bumps.

After the operation there will be tenderness, swelling and bruising in the areas operated on. It can take up to several months for the swelling to completely go down. You will therefore need a few weeks to recover at home after the surgery. The scares from the surgery are almost invisible in most cases.

Like any surgery, there are risks involved with using liposuction for cellulite reduction. Talk to your plastic surgeon to get more information and to see if you are a suitable candidate.

Liposuction Risks

Liposuction is a medical procedure involving a tube which is inserted into the body and sucks the fat cells from underneath the skin. This helps improves the contour of the body and leads to cellulite reduction. It is an effective cellulite treatment which is best used on younger patients as older patients' skin means that it can lead to further dimples. It also best used on people who are not obese and are already in a healthy weight range.

As with any medical procedure there are risks involved with using liposuction for cellulite:

Infection is one such risk of any surgery.

A more serious side effect is embolism which is where the loose fat enters the brain via ruptured blood vessels.

Paresthesia refers to numbness or increased sensitivity in those areas that underwent the surgery.

Internal organs can be damaged.

While these risks are serious liposuction is considered to be reasonably safe medical procedure when compared to many others. However, you still should need to talk your plastic surgeon about the risks and any concerns you may have.

Liposuction is usually performed on the buttocks, hips, abdomen, arms, calves, back and face. These areas can be tackled all at one depending on how much work is required. When searching for a good plastic surgeon be sure to find someone who is well experienced, trained and certified.

Probably one of the biggest risks of liposuction for cellulite is the actual risk of being disappointed. Liposuction is not a magic wand that can instantly change your figure. While it will reduce cellulite it has its limitations and will not mean that you will automatically lose weight.
