One view of Twhirl

Mine ;)

Usually one of the first things I do when I set up an account on a well known social networking site, is to look for software that would make my life just that little bit easier.

Twitter was no different.

Although I've had an account on Twitter for several months, it took me some time before I started using Twhirl. Now, though, I wouldn't consider using anything else.

Twhirl allows you to access all aspects of your account on Twitter in one place. It makes communicating with your followers that much simpler and quicker by using clickable icons on mouseover.

Everything is on hand on Twhirl. You can search for various topics and/or tweeters, you can access your private or direct messages, you can view your followers and who you are following, you can mark your favourite tweets and much more!

Twhirl uses the Adobe Air Platform so this needs to be downloaded before you can start using Twhirl but it makes the software so stable.

I've had no problems whatsoever with downloading, installation, setting up my accounts (you can use it with multiple platforms not just Twitter) or installing upgrades. It's also FREE to use!

Why you should choose Twhirl

1. It's free! I love free don't you?
2. You can use more than one account. I'm not just talking about Twitter here, either. You can add your Friendfeed, laconi.ca and Seesmic accounts, too.
3. You can post images direct to TwitPic.
4. You don't have to log in to Twitter. I don't know about you but the Twitter website can be really slow at times so the less times I have to do this the better!

Not convinced?

Add other accounts to Twhirl

You can use Twhirl with these other accounts, too:

FriendFeed: With FriendFeed you can keep up to date with everything that your friends are doing i.e. websites, photos, videos that they are sharing. If you have an account with FriendFeed or you're thinking of signing up, remember to add the account to Twhirl and add me as a Friend :) Here I am on FriendFeed: Carrie White.
Identi.ca: Microblogging Service that works in the same way as Twitter.
Laconi.ca: Open Microblogging Tool.
Seesmic: Video conversation

To add these accounts to Twhirl:

1 - Right click on the Twhirl Icon in your Taskbar and open accounts
2 - Using the scroll button, highlight the service that you want to add and enter your username.
3 - Click the + button.
4 - To check the account, again highlight the account in the white box and click Connect. A new Twhirl box should open showing that account within.
5 - You can even open these accounts in addition to your Twitter account, if you wish, in Twhirl. I've disabled this option for now as I find I only use Twitter on a regular basis. All your tweets will be updated in the other accounts if you have them set up.

Yes, I use it and I love it!

Lia says:

is there any RT option?

Trekkiemelissa says:

I definitely use it and love it. Its really easy to keep track of what is going on instead of having to go to the website every so often to see what is going on.

MobyD says:

I've been using it for several months. It's very easy to use. It's addicting, so sometimes when I really need to get something done I'll turn it off - I'm too easily distracted.

CleanerLife says:

It's great! I can't imagine using Twitter without it!

No, I don't use it! I use something else!

JaguarJulie says:

No, although I have heard of Twhirl, I don't currently use it -- I go directly to Twitter to get my @replies. Because I multitask in any usual day, I'm sometimes a wee bit late in getting back to my replies! However, I do my very best to be interactive and respond to everybody -- it's the courteous thing to do!

aj2008 says:

No i don't use it but I think I am about to give Twyrl a whirl!

You know what I might suggest with this lens? I don't like how the contents and explore related pages dominate the top of your lens. I might turn off the contents. Then, employ the table of contents to specifically highlight those modules that give you tips on using Twirl! ;)

I've only been on Twitter a short time, but it's definitely easier with something like Twhirl. I've been on Tweet Burner, but I think I'll try Twhirl after reading your lens. Thank you for the resource!
