Creative ways to celebrate Valentine's Day

It might sound corny but sometimes a simple walk on the beach or in the park accompanied by food can be a great way to let the stress melt away with each step together. Obviously this works best if you live in a warm environment, but a romantic prepared or purchased picnic in the park followed by a walk holding hands has been found to be both cathartic and romantic. Plan this to be later in the day and try to get the bonus of a beautiful sunset. Just remember it might be cool in the evening so for extra points bring a warm blanket, jacket, or warm thermos of hot chocolate.

Most busy couples see cooking a meal as more of a chore than a pleasure. Yet taking the time to make something together can remind each of you of all the fun they have working together. Plan some of your favorite items for the menu and make sure you include your partner in the preparation. It might seem unromantic to have them help you, but when you turn on some fun music, have a glass of wine and work together it can lead to all the comedy that a kitchen seems to create. Make sure you know your recipes well enough so you are not stressing as you are cooking. Also remember to have some snacks or appetizers handy when working on a long meal since no one likes being starving while working.

You know those hundreds or thousands of photos you have from vacations and holidays together? When was the last time you put them in a photo album. Buy a photo album, some caption paper, fun stickers and a number of photos and sit down together to create a love album. Nothing brings back memories of some of your best times together than photos and re-living the stories that went with them. If most of your photos are digital, send them over to your local Costco or other price club to print them out for incredibly low rates (Costco is 5cents per picture). Write funny captions; add stickers or other embellishments to make it even more fun. Many of which can be purchased for pennies at a local Michaels or other craft store.

If either of you are artistically inclined perhaps writing a song together is right up your alley. Certainly not the most easy of ideas but should be an activity that can cause hours of laughter. Most basic Macs have the ability for you to compose and create a love song, while it might seem corny at the time, years later will never fail to bring a smile to your face. Take this one step further and create a home movie together. Maybe recounting how you fell in love with each other, what it felt like to get married or perhaps your first child. Set the camera up on a table and make sure it has plenty of battery, after a few minutes you will forget it is even there as you recount some of your favorite times together. Make sure you set the correct mood prior with a nice dinner or some fun drinks. Just remember to forget about the camera and just talk to each other.
