Three Favorite Restaurants in Virginia Beach

The top 3 restaurants in Virginia Beach aren't necessarily in the nitelife centers. They are so little known in some cases, that taxi drivers may not even know where they are.

These are the places for truly fine dining that can rival any of the greatest restaurants in other cities around the U.S.A.

WARNING: These fine dining establishments are on the expensive side. Entrees at these places typically cost between $29-$49 each.

However, they are the perfect places for special events, like romantic anniversary dinners or special nights out.

On a small road off of Shore Drive, West Great Neck, at a small marina, you will find One Fish Two Fish. The seafood here is great!

A great place for lunch or dinner, with a nice view of the Lynnhaven Inlet to the Chesapeake Bay.

This represents the least expensive dining option on the list, with entrees typically between $20-$30.

Classy, good seafood restaurant.

Not too far from the oceanfront, but tucked away and not on the regular tourist track, this is a 5-star restaurant in the body of a 3-star eatery.

The food here is impeccable. The chef is magnificent. The architecture of the place is a bit tight, but the food and service make up for it in spades.

They offer a 4-course tasting menu which I highly recommend. You get a sample several of the day's menu options plus dessert.

Do not miss dessert. The souffles are incredible.

Terrapin Restaurant: Fine Dining in Virginia Beach

A hidden gem situated on a former golf-course. Established in 1939 by Robert Steinhilber, and still family owned. It's in the middle of the Thalia Acres residential neighborhood in the middle of Virginia Beach (off of Virginia Beach Blvd).

Without question the best overall fine dining experience and most well kept secret in town.

They serve a selection of steak, pasta, and seafood. Everything is prepared exquistely. On my most recent visit, the dessert selection was not too creative, but delicious nonetheless.

The atmosphere is fantastic, especially if you can get a seat outside looking out onto the Lynnhaven River. Inside they tend to keep the indoor temperature a bit low, so bring a coat or sweater if you go in winter season.
