Starting the rebuild.

Starting to put things back together now. The gearbox has not been touched, just given a lick of paint. You can also just see the back edge of the recently painted floorpan after all the welding had been done.

Here is a better picture of the floorpan complete with replacement front beam to replace the bent one.

A picture of the front beam. This will need some kind of adjustment to drop the front end, but I will wait on that until I know how much it needs dropping.

Another view of the front end. Pedal assembly going back onto the floorpan at this point. Notice the body sitting on the garage floor in front. Not alot of room but better than a lot of people have.

Getting Started on the Body

The floorpan is nearly done so I need to think about getting the body back on. Here it is sitting on the garage floor. The heat exchangers were in reasonably good condition and there will be a lot of body work to do so not too worried about lifting it without any kind of bracing.

Started to remove the bent metal from the front drivers side. I'm not sure at this stage how much to remove. I'll just keep going until I am satisfied. I have ideas in my head that might make it a bit different.

I have cut off all the drivers side front inner wing and quarter panel.

The body is back on the floorpan. Notice that there is still a fair bit of bent metal. Do I straighten it or do I cut it out? Using the grinder is probably the best option.

Bodywork Preparation

The transaxle is sitting nicely under the replaced body. Notice that the rear vent grill is still in place. I have not picked up the wizard kit as this point so there will be some more cutting to do when I get it.

Internal view of the body back on the floorpan. As you can see the body is not bad, heat exchangers are good. Now to get on with the rest of it.

Not the best of pictures, but I think you will see that the grinder was used to cut out the bent metal at the front. I will have to replace it with something now, that is the only problem....

Final view of the rear body work before it starts getting chopped up.
