What would Valentine's Day be without some romantic music or songs?

If you're planning an intimate, just for two, Valentine's celebration, there is nothing more sensual than having the right music playing in the background. Everyone has their favourites, of course, but here are eleven that I have gathered together which hopefully will inspire your inner lover.

If they do, then grab that box of chocolates, make sure there is a glass of wine (or two) close at hand, slip into something more comfortable, take your lover by the hand...and as Jim Morrison once said, "C'mon baby, light my fire!"

They say that French is the language of lovers. Well, they weren't lying when it comes to this song.

Originally written for and recorded with his lover, French actress Brigitte Bardot, Serge Gainsbourg later fell for the English actress, Jane Birkin. They get it together on this track from 1969, which had them banned from radio play in several countries around Europe. That didn't do them any harm though, as people bought the record to see what the fuss was all about - and sent it to #1.

Roberta Flack: The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face

If you've ever seen the movie Play Misty For Me with Clint Eastwood, you'll know that this song is included on the soundtrack. Judging by his infatuated wannabe lover, Eastwood probably wished he'd never seen her face!

However, this has got to be one of THE most romantic songs ever written, and should be on your playlist for Valentine's Day.

Many people associate this song with Celine Dion, but here's the lady who recorded it first back in 1985, and had the best selling single in the UK with The Power of Love.

She kinda dropped off the face of the Earth after this, but she matches Ms. Dion in vocals, and I much prefer this version.
