Vampire Diaries Series

This episode is almost all about Damon's evil plans and Bonnie channeling some witchy powers. Yes, they are connected in this episode. Bonnie starts to see apparitions of her witch ancestor Emily. Damon is relentless in trying to get that strange crystal from her. He is such a liar when he says to her, "Believe it or not Bonnie, I want to protect you."

Elena alerts Stefan to let him know that he's been harassing Bonnie about the necklace. The necklace belonged to Katherine and Emily is the one who gave it to her. Remember that Emily was Katherine's handmaiden during the civil war.
Stefan realizes that Damon is up to no good (yet again) and uses a brotherly bonding ruse to try and get it out of him.
It's a nice change to see them spend some time together instead of always bickering and bitter towards one another (ahem..this means you Damon).

Meanwhile, Aunt Jenna is seriously crushing on Jeremy and Elena's new history teacher (Alaric Saltzman). Love the name.

He gives Jeremy a reprieve from failing history and requests that he write a history paper for extra credit. So with some advice from Aunt Jenna, Jeremy goes digging around and finds some old family history documents that his father collected.

Something interesting will come of this!

Caroline and Matt also have something going on..um..maybe! He spent the night at her place to keep her company (sorry..no funny business..yet) when she got drunk from the party she threw. I love Matt, he's a great guy and needs a girlfriend.

Maybe they'd make a great match?

One of my favorite scenes is when Stefan and Damon are at the bar and they're playfully trying to imitate each other. Stefan mimics Damon and does some hilarious eye movements that Damon does a lot. I couldn't stop laughing!

Somerhalder and Wesley are super talented actors and they really do bring the story to life. Great combination! Okay rambling on..

They end up playing football and trip each other up with their super strong vampire powers and end up lying on the field and reminiscing. The conversation turns to Katherine and Stefan says to Damon, "It wasn't real, our love for Katherine," or something to that effect. He of course, is referring to Katherine using her mind compulsion to compel each of them to think they were in love with her.

Stefan realizes that his love for her was not real. What we don't know and don't realize until later is that Katherine NEVER used mind compulsion on Damon (according to him).

Say what?! ! That was a shock to me.

So we already know that Katherine was a greedy, little vampire and wanted both brothers. To me, it really appears that she wanted Stefan just a little more. Aha! The truth!

This makes sense to me, because she had to use mind compulsion on Stefan to keep him, otherwise he would NOT have stayed with her. Heck NO, that crazy, vampire bit him!

People, err..undead folks included.. will always want something the most when they can't have it! And Damon is bitter about Katherine wanting Stefan more, or so it seems.

Damon tries to walk away from the conversation and Stefan finally asks him the big question, "What do you want with Katherine's crystal?"

Damon asks Stefan, "How did you know it was Katherine's?" Apparently, Emily gave it to her on her last night alive (or undead). Damon believes that he was the last one to see her on that night (poor Damon). Stefan tells him that HE was actually the last one to see her that night. OUCH.
That had to sting a little bit.

Damon is angry that Stefan was indeed the favorite that night, but reveals that he can bring Katherine back with the crystal, because he made some kind of deal with Emily to save her when all the vampires were being killed off by vampire hunters. Emily found a way to protect Katherine with her powers and Damon would protect Emily's lineage from being killed off as well. She was a witch, so they probably would have killed her too.

So apparently, there was a secret chamber underneath the church where she and the other vampires were supposedly burned (26 other vampires!). The tomb was sealed with Emily's magic and the crystal (along with the comet return) can unlock it and bring her back. The only problem is that it will not only bring just Katherine back but 26 other vampires! Yikes.

Emily knows this and while she is possessing Bonnie refuses to carry through with her end of the deal because it is too dangerous. She destroys the crystal and all hope for Damon of bringing Katherine back.

So what's your opinion? Will Katherine come back to life in The Vampire Diaries? I say yes! Damon will find a way.

So Damon is angry at Emily (who has possessed Bonnie) because she destroys Katherine's crystal. Once Emily's spirit leaves Bonnie, Damon angrily attacks Bonnie. He couldn't before because Emily was just too powerful (oh yeah, when he tried "Emily" threw him up against a tree where he was impaled by a branch). Yeah.. that will hurt.

So Stefan pulls Damon off of Bonnie and saves her by feeding her his blood with Elena watching.

After Bonnie is revived and extremely confused and scared she tries to figure out what happened.

Bonnie's facial expression here is classic! She is apparently scared to death and I REALLY felt her repulsion of Stefan by that face she made shortly after he saved her life. Loved it! But of course, she shouldn't be afraid of sweet Stefan. After all, he did save her life!

That scene ends with Elena telling Stefan that she's going to tell Bonnie Stefan's secret because she can trust her, and that she's changed her mind and wants to be with him.

Oh yes, Stefan then tells Elena that now HE can't be with her. It's just too dangerous. Elena pleads with him, "Don't go Stefan," and then "Don't walk away from me," all while he's walking away from her.. I felt horrible for her.

But the best part is the end!

Back at the Gilbert house the doorbell rings, and guess who it is? News reporter Logan!!! It ends with Aunt Jenna answering the door and Logan asking her "Aren't you going to invite me in?"

So how did that happen?!

In order for him to be a vampire he would need to drink vampire blood and then die within a day or so.

Who's blood did he drink and how and why? Did he know more than we were lead to believe?

And no, I don't believe that he was a vampire before that night. For this reason.. in order for Vicki (remember her?) to complete her transformation, she had to drink human blood.

So nope, he was definitely human that night (or so I think!). What do you think?
